The more common thing would not have been to include any form of PC/console crossplay at all.

Part of the justification for the Microsoft Store and its Windows 10-only UWP apps was that stuff like cross-buy, cross-play, and cross-save between the Xbox One and Win10 versions became viable. When KI was ported from Xbox One to Windows 10 PCs in 2016, it included all those benefits. And there wasn’t any issue, since it was presumably planned to be the only PC version available.

The issue arose when KI was later ported to Steam. UWP apps live in a really restrictive environment; you don’t just throw them onto Steam. Steamworks is a different beast than the walled garden that Microsoft created with the specific intent of easy crossover.

If KI had never seen a Microsoft Store release, then the Steam release most likely wouldn’t have bothered with any form of crossplay at all, and no one would have thought anything of it because that would be normal.

I’ve seen a little bit of it. Maaaaaaybe I should watch more gameplay just to be sure. I like other genres too, but yeah fighting’s is my fav. I got FF7 Remake and eventually I’ll play Shenmue 3 when I have fewer things to play

Matches in this game are hella fun.

Netcode is surprisingly good too, especially when you consider just how much stuff it has to keep track of.

Last time I played I managed to play a 2v2 with some americans.

If you do get it, let me know, I’m still in the GG2 Discord and people are always raring to play some matches there, so while it’s a fairly dead game, you get matches consistently.

Been wanting to get back to it myself tbh, so we can always run a couple matches.
