The Street Fighter 3poxy Strike: Everybody at home but SF5 doesn't have Netcode

You joking ? Hunting for them ?

I’m stylish…

Yeah, I don’t know why anyone pays attention to metacritic to be honest. It’s the last place I’d go to look for honest reviews.

If people are going to still use reviews, the best thing to do is to find a few reviewers that have similar taste and use them as a gauge.

I take metacritic over any publication tbh.
You only need to take the statistic media to purge any fluk.

Plus outside the meme reviews, its others consumers that in general will tend to be at least more honest on why they like or dislike something.

Not that they factor in ny personal buying habits, but if they did, it will be over places like kotaku, polygon, etc.

I have played many games rated high that i did not enjoy as well as many games rated low that i enjoyed.

Daikatana considered one of the worst video games of all time i finished about 5 times,it’s level design and soundtrack always keeps me interested.

Reviews are fine but it won’t really form my opinion of a game. Main reason i won’t judge GG Strive until i actually play it.

It’s definitely possible to enjoy bad games. I liked Golden Axe: Beast Rider back in the early PS3 days because it was about a barbarian chick in it killing monsters, and that game was absolutely not good at all even without knowing that the game was based on an older series.

Maybe in some sense but I think a lot of consumer reviews are BS too. Everyone’s biased for sure, but I think people who take reviewing seriously try to be a little more objective (except for people like One Angry Gamer who is an example of someone that’s catering to their fanbase).

Personally, I like watching two or three non-spoiler YouTube videos the most. Maybe one from a big publication (IGN, etc), but the rest will be more independent people. The way people articulate their opinions, gives me a better sense of which ones they’re more passionate about, plus, I can usually look at the game footage to see if I agree with what they’re saying about the graphics or combat or whatever.

Also (as mentioned already), when you have a service like metacritic, you allow for mob mentality/review-bombing which makes me just not trust a lot of negative reviews to begin with.

Note: these are general opinions and experiences I have. My opinions have nothing to do with TLOU. I’ve never played them, or even paid attention to the spoilers or all the shit about it, and I don’t think I’m going to play them anyway. This is just what I’ve seen from other games and movies.

That’s too bad. There should be a repository of XNA models.

I am posing Taki as we speak.

I use Metacritic as my main cause it has links to a bagillion other review sites. I read lots of reviews, both good and bad and especially mediocre. Usually the mediocre reviews are the most enlightening cause they’ll call out both good and bad stuff.

I recently purchased Need For Speed: Heat partly on the reviews, since there’s like 4 different NFS games this gen. And for all the bad customer reviews, it was calling out stuff that I either didn’t care about or straight-up didn’t want, like realistic physics or dropping the cop chases or a ton (more) of subtle customization issues for the tuner cars or tuner culture.

So yeah even bad reviews can entice me to buy a thing when they call out things the game does / doesn’t have which are relevant to me.

Having said that, anyone here into car racing games, NFS or otherwise? I am a shit-tier driver even in arcade-y racers but an old NFS game had shown me why car racers can be fun.

I do something similar. If I’m interested in a game, I’ll generally look for footage of it, especially early game. If it looks good, I get it.

Reviewers either wind up spoiling the game, being biased (either way), or covering inane junk that I don’t care about.

I like to form my own opinion based on gameplay then checking the reception around the internet.

A man of culture.

Don’t listen to these horny bastards who want Ivy, she’s a slut you don’t want to pose with something as dirty as them!
