I think a lot of the problem is a lot of people want to instantly get better.
Musical instrument tutorial videos like “become a master in one week” are infinitely more popular to beginners than “here’s a good scale exercise”.
No one wants to put the work in. They just want the victories, even though a victory without a challenge isn’t very satisfying.
I’d be lying if I didn’t suffer from this from time to time as well… I haven’t labbed 8 different scenarios after Yun’s cl.LP, LK, MP block-string in the corner yet, but I did google “how to survive Yun’s SA3”.
It was stupid of me because I realized there isn’t a simple solution. This isn’t a Zelda game where you just use fire arrows. So, I figured out the inputs of the blockstring and tested Yun out myself to see the commands for the scenarios I want to lab against so I can input them into a recording and lab them next time I’m on.
Anyways, I went off topic lol, but I think you get my point

Funny you mention that. SF5 has some of this going on but…SRK front page is asking for content to write about.
Modern FGC has been sort of a disservice to new players in a lot of ways. This was probably before you started posting, but I made a lot of lounge members back in 16-17 mad AF because I’d tell them to go into training mode, figure it out and report back. People would just get tilted over it
Why are you being an asshole? Stop telling people to go to training mode and figure it out.
Then lo and behold one of the guys did it and learned a lot from labbing a situation. In a bid to try and get as many people in the door, they relaxed everything because “the scene should be for everybody”. Shit, not every hobby is for everybody. Anybody can start something, doesn’t mean they’ll stick around.
So a lot of neat parts from it, like coming up with your own solutions so you can contribute to a community of people helping each other, fall by the wayside.
Like I’ve said before, even with all the top down investment from companies, i’m not entirely convinced that things are better overall.

Skip about 9 months ahead into the future so all this covid shit can end and the FGC hopefully resumes to its normal state with weekly majors. Fucking sucks that Cooperation Cup, Combo Breaker, EVO, Viennality, CEO, etc are not happening and may not happen again

Did another ranked run in T7.
Ranked still sucks but I actually got two noteworthy sets. One was against a Marduk, which was a see-saw… in that I first got a huge streak then he got a huge streak.
Then… well, I did this to another dude:
