The only good thing about Aftermath is the only good thing about MK11’s story as a whole. Simply put, what it did for Liu Kang as a character.

I don’t know if its technically great, but holy shit if its orders of magnitudes better than a lot of other games.
Won’t help you against super laggy 3rd worlders on wifi but its pretty damn solid.
