The Street Fighter 3poxy Strike: Everybody at home but SF5 doesn't have Netcode

Yeah it’s just general cuntassery. As the oldest son, I gotta deal with a lot of shit, so it comes with the territory. My fault for being born first, eh?

All’s good.

@Volt

Here’s the clip:

It’s honestly nothing special and i don’t think you’d learn much, but I said I’d post it.

Also, that super that won me the 2nd round was unintentional, and this seemed to be Lantis’s most green character, as this was one of our closest/longest matches. I did win one against his Twelve, but he smoked me every other time lol.

Throw is ok I guess but it’s not something I really need. For assists I like:

  1. Neutral presence/bypass
  2. DP/armor
  3. Lockdown
  4. Combo fodder to help me combo after things that you can’t solo.

The command grab is cute but also really slow.

I still haven’t seen it. I’m not used to Steams UI yet. It’s super confusing.

No worries, family first. Always.

Summary

Ok so clearly, the opponent doesn’t know how to play Ryu. That means that you need to capitalise and realise that it’s suddenly much more equal of a playing field. You can’t play defensive against any character like that, because you’ll eventually get opened up. Ryu’s offence isn’t even that good.

You don’t know the speed and ranges of your moves, which is the #1 thing to improve on. Also, you need to recognise when the Ryu goes full caveman mode, because about 1:17, he throws you down and does absolutely nothing. He just gave up his offence, and now he’s at the range where Ken can do low forward > super, cook a pancake and fuck his wife, and Ryu can’t really contest the better button.

Also the cancels. Hit confirming low forward is very hard, especially online, but punishing a whiffed DP should be easy 100% of the time.

TL;DR
Be more offensive.
Be smarter on defence.
Learn to contest in certain situations.
Improve on hit confirming and super cancels.
Also use TC more. This Ryu - while probably a much better player on other characters, no doubt - probably doesn’t know how to keep offence going properly. That lets you jump in (which, yes, do less of and be more efficient. Too many jump ins with too little productivity in that clip) and continue offence. It also pushes pretty far so it has decent corner carry for 2 normals. Plus it’s hit confirmable, so you can cancel into anything.

Thanks for understanding. I can go a round or 2 now (hopefully).

Damn. This is where I subtly encourage theft.

I got the kids ATM and am going to do some stick work afterwards. I can’t low forward into fireball right now.

Ah, sorry for that then. Good luck with both of them!

Anyone think we getting new fighters this year?

Smash? GTFO!

Thanks! A lot to work on, so I appreciate it!

And yeah, i did try to do the low forward xx super on the first whiffed DP but dropped it, so just went for safer sweeps afterwards. It’s odd I dropped that really, but i guess i hyped myself up (which i tend to do). Anyways, will definitely lab that more to get it down.

Sounds good. Lemme know if you ever want a live training dummy. I’m happy to oblige.

This is the level of play I hope to reach in 40 years.

I’ve never seen an S grade before. I guess parries do a lot to increase that rank - not that I really care

That’s freaking awesome.

I lol’d at that DP around the 1:00 mark tho. Was that intentional?
