That word was beyond prevalent in the UK in the 80s.
I wouldnt consider my mum a racist but i was often sent to the ‘paki shop’ for groceries…

Yep. It’s especially derogatory to Pakistanis living in England. That being said, we Pakistanis are more than happy to accept a Sri Lankan into our folds. A good people, to be sure. We love them.

In hindsight as an adult that sort of ignorant racism was more common that anything hatefull or spiteful when i was a kid.
It was everywhere though and no less hurtful I’m sure.

Yes pretty much. Also I didn’t realise I said that, but it sounds very much like me. I’ve never cared for being offended by it, I just want people to know what they’re saying so they don’t get beat the fuck up around other Pakistanis.

It’s just words to me. I’ve dealt with a lot of racism, and that sort of stuff doesn’t bother me. Hate just begets hate. I’ve been through quite a bit, and there’s surely more to come, so you can say what you want, and I’d probably laugh along without regret. We’re all friends here.

Bhai is an endearing way to say “brother.” When a Pakistani calls you their bhai, it’s generally a good thing. Scratch that. It’s always a good thing.
Edit: It’s an Urdu and Hindi word. Get called bhai by anyone in South Asia and it’s a good thing.

After being scared off by the intro when I was a scared little baby, I started watching Paranoia Agent on Toonami. It’s a pretty neat show with some messed up characters. Wish I gave it a chance sooner.
