Well the latest development on this is the unfortunate step that we have to take. Dave (Owner of GU), Myself (GPXCORP), Triforce (Empire Arcadia) and a few other groups are combining for a class action suit against Keough Gaming. The truth of the matter is we don’t expect much, but hope that potentially some good can come of it. I have to talk to Dave this week since I have not spoken with him for a couple weeks (We’re on tour right now).
While Keough Gaming appears to be kind of a fake company, we are not sure what will happen in the next steps, we just hope this does not happen to any other groups in the future.
I hope people out there in the Community go out and help Game Universe as much as possible.
Guys I really wish you the best of luck. I’ve been in somewhat similar situations (not nearly as large) where I’ve been screwed over royally by someone that seemed trustworthy. As long as you have the person’s name, you can always try to do something about it. It’s pretty depressing to see people exploit the gaming community in such a way; even though moderately expected considering how robust the gaming scene is becoming (in regards to potential financial gain).
i was just wondering what the update on the GameUniverse sittuation.
if they are still in trouble i think we need to do something to help them out. i mean i am new to this community and don’t know any of you very well, but it seems you guys are family. you guys share tips, and info about tourneys, you guys truly help each other when it comes to these games you all enjoy to do. and i think that as an east coast player, i want to help this community any way i can. and this situation that GameUniverse and this poor Dave guy is screaming for help from everyone. This is a mans dream… flushed down the tubes because some a**hole manipulated the entire cast of employees. now an awesome store and supporter of the gaming community suffers, and in reality… we all do to. this convention that they were trying to hold wasn’t for any reason other than for all of us. for all the fellow games on the east coast. and i think we need to show some appreciation for what they TRIED to do for us. i was thinking last night, after i read what had happened and remembered i saw that just in the Boston thread by its self there were 80,000 viewers… imagine everyone that sees this story and feels for this situation only gave a 1.50. only a dollar and fifty cents. maybe Dave would have enough to pay the winners off, and start his store back up. we need to stick together here, and do what we can to keep this community alive. I’m not asking for anyone to do this… but just think about it for me. and try to do the right thing (:
my gamer tag is NICOLE xo63 if anyone wants to talk about this some more (: thank you so much if you read all this and are thinking of taking some action!
Manny thanks for the explanation. I’m sorry you missed your beef teriyaki… I will buy you some if you buy GU. On a side note we need you to call Dave asap.
I believe Smashboards or a member of the board is going to run a tourney, similar to GameuniCon where some of the money will be donated to the recovery of the staff, store and anyone else who got scammed. I believe some of the players who didn’t get their prize money are being invited as well. You can also make donations via paypal.
