Not a problem man. Between all the people that will show up for the qualifiers we can have 3+ setups for SF4. A couple people can bring an xbox or ps3 and worst comes to worst we can use my laptop as a setup. We can turn backgrounds completely off so there won’t be any juttering. Also we could do this at starbase which will already have 2 setups and someone can bring a 3rd and 4th.
As far as christmas being the next friday. We can possibly have the exhibition be on wednesday (the 23rd) at starbase freeplay? I know some folks work like myself and Frankie. So we’ll see if everyone can make that.
I’m fine with the Starbase idea, but not alright with the input lag on the Sanwa Setup. Jay, Los and I were playing on it this past Saturday and the input lag was annoying. Jay and Los usually tech my throws with their eyes closed, but on that setup I robbed a couple away. Also with the characters all of us main, there is little to no room for input lag.
I probably won’t unhook my PS3 for Friday (because of what happened to my 360…FEAR), but if we can get at least 2-3 setups going, we can run it similar to a ranbat or at least have a Double Elim tourney that will at least run faster.
We could do:
-Los’s big setup (1)
-Hooman’s Laptop (2) If we can fully assure no input lag/judders
-Someone else bring a 360 (3) Which I can supply a 19" CRT possibly
for the 1v1 (Marin/Sonoma) Games, I’ve been trying to get a list of games that don’t favor one side. I am aware of what games are at Scandia in RP, so the list should not favor one County. I think in terms of what I think everyone has played, the 1v1 should be:
-HDR
-CVS2
-3S
-GG XX Accent Core (Might as well go for the most recent one)
-(Random Game)
This way keeping one random game, neither side has an advantage and it makes it so you don’t need to find 4 other people who are good at game X.
Let me know what you guys think. I’ll probably be thinking about the Marin 5v5 Qualifiers Layout while at work tonight, hopefully I’ll help come up with something. Maybe even keeping the “extra” games at 3-4 would make things easier, or having those in the 5v5 being able to rep for the other games (as I am with CVS2)
Frankie you do realize that I have no idea how to play Accent Core right? I haven’t played since Reload and I’m not sure I remember how to play at top form in Reload.
I didn’t. Sure I got a little more patient, but I was missing my punishes, “pressing the button cuzzzin’” and other stuff. I really just need to find a way to get back to how I used to play Seth.
Terry, I think we are still working on a time for the Qualifiers because we are either going to do it tourney style, or ranbat style.
The Marin SFIV 5v5 Qualifiers will be this Friday, December 18th at Los’s…so you should be free up!!
Also depending on how we are doing the 1v1 Marin/Sonoma on the other games. We either were thinking of having you rep 3S or HDR anyway.
Let’s say 8pm Friday for the Marin SFIV quals. If anyone can bring a setup that would be great so we can streamline the event. Depending on how many show up, I think round robin style (everyone plays everyone, tally up the scores top 5 are in) would be best. If we don’t have the time than just double elim tourn, top 5 finishers are in.
Frankie I saw 3 things you should do to improve consistency in your play:
work on execution of BnB’s. I have a feeling when you are in training mode you’re practicing fancy resets and what not. Thats good but dont forget about cr.lk,cr.lp,cr.mpxx tandem kick(?) Shouldn’t be missing that at all. And I would start it with cr.lk rather than cr.lp as i’ll explain in a sec.
Tick SPD’S!!! You tend to just go for cr.lp, throw. What about, cr.lk,spd, or cr.lk,cr.lp spd??? can’t tech that. only way to beat it is with a jump or backdash. What beats a jump? cr.lk, of course ,setting up the Bnb I was talking about above.
hit confirms. put dummy on random block. Practice your Bnb. If the dummy blocks—>spd. if it hits finish combo. Also practice cr.medxx tandem kick hit confirm. Saw you miss that too often.
These simple things will go a long way to improving your Seth IMO, but then again what do I know? :xeye:
We should all be spending some time in the lab before Friday. Let’s put in some work and rep Marin hard!
Just walked in there this afternoon after not following up on my post a few pages back. Totally gonna start comin in there more regularly, gotta take my Fei Long on some walks.
Thanks for all the advice. Lately I’ve been feeling that my Seth has been going backwards. Definitely going to work on fixing that. As for Training Mode, it’s a mix of stuff. I practice simple stuff like Corner Setups/Resets, what to do after FA’s and on and off cr.lk–>cr.lp–>cr.lp–>cr.mp xx Legs. It does make sense that I have my Resets down but not all my BnB’s.
For Tick SPD’s do you usually use LP/MP for range? I’ve never played Gief in my entire life, so Tick SPD’s (oddly enough) are new to me.
We playing tonight at all? I’m down to play whenever after work hours. I’ll see you all tomorrow for sure. Let’s get our stuff together Wednesday so we can bring it on Friday. Make sure you bring it and not leave it in Sebastopol for scrubs to find it.
So here are my questions because I’m kind of confused.
Do I have to qualify for SFIV in order to represent another game? If not I’m probably going to concentrate on 3S and HDR since I’m still in finals.
When and where is the actual man event? I think I saw it somewhere, but now I can’t find it again.
Frankie and I were trying to coordinate on what to bring for 3S, but we should actually get stuff written down. I can bring PS3 (with SFIV and HDR), PS2, SF:AC (for 3S), small flat screen TV, HRAP 2 + PS2 => PS3 converter.
Is anyone up for make up practice sessions next week? I’ll probably need to cram a lot of practice in.
Also, “Best of Marin in 3S” is probably up for grabs now. I haven’t played in a long long time. I’m not even sure if I can still short short super consistently anymore. Hope to see you all on on Friday!
