The ST match vids + discussion thread

yes, Ryu is cornered so no push back, also guile steps deeper on Ryu’s st mp start up frames ( guile’s failed throw attempt) so once it hits guile is at max range for the sweep

The frame data for far and crouching Strong is the same (I’d link the Wiki, but it’s down atm). The only trouble is pushback, as Sesho pointed out, and the distance, so that the crappier close version does not come out instead.

I’m curious if he intentionally did that, or if it just happened randomly. It seems too situation-specific to try to go for it consistently, but who knows, Sashishi is ridiculous.

I think it’s intentional, it looks like an option select used against walk up throw attempts. He most likely did back + mp in reaction to Guile walking towards him, followed by the sweep. You can hear the commentator saying “this is Sashishi’s mp”, as if it’s a special technique of his.

The MAME SSF2T lets you turn “cheats” on to do training mode. It makes the life bar never go down, but it also does some funky side effects with frames of attacks and push back glitches. Like I was able to do cr lk chain to stand hp. Anyway, I thought since it worked with that cheat mode on that I could do it in the real ST, which lead to this huge argument with BR_oldschool. I had to make a video to prove to him I wasn’t bullshitting, but we found out later that it didn’t work without that life bar cheat.

Anyways, with that cheat on, I was able to do cr mp into stand mp back into cr hk. Which looks fucking sick. But doesn’t work in real ST. I think right now, the best training mode is still HDR classic. The MAME training mode did weird shit like, if you used hawk and did an SPD, the training dummy wouldn’t bounce off, he would just wake up immediately right next to you. Pretty creepy if you actually think about it. Fucking immortal zombie dummy that keeps coming back for more no matter how you slam it.

I was messing around with the MAME ST yesterday as well when I was running an ST tutorial show thingie. A few things I noticed:

Honda’s ochio does some WEIRD shit to the opponent. They would randomly bounce out and levitate, or it would cause a hard knockdown, or they would bounce away in the wrong direction. Very odd. Also I somehow managed to do Guile’s handcuff glitch when I was playing Ryu v. Blanka. It was completely unintentional. I found this out with just about 2-3 hours of random practice, so I can imagine there’s MANY more glitches with this program. But the input display and hit box viewer proved to be very instructional to new players who don’t quite grasp how and why certain attacks function the way they do.

I remember ST training mode in CCCv2 was the worse as it released day one. Glitches all over the places.

There are cheats to make opponents with infinite health act more realistically.

Yo!! I need some input here. ~Please!

I am trying to upload all my Xmainia DVD to you tube. They are in .VOB files. YouTube converts them, however many come out with the sound and video out of sync. Thoughts?

Try converting the files yourself.
Haven’t tried that site myself but…yeah

No that cheat is only marginally better. It still writing health value directly into memory. Only it does it less frequently (<60%) than the old mame cheat.

If you have a 8 buttons layout stick, map one of the unused buttons to MAME “toggle cheat” hotkey.
Do you combo like you would normally do without cheat, when the dummy gets knockdown or its health goes down to 20%, tap the toggle cheat button twice.

It’s not as convenient as HDR classic training mode, but the HDR speed is totally wrecked.
I wouldn’t recommend using it unless you want to get your muscle memory wired for wrong timing that wouldn’t work offline.

The other option is running dreamcast ST or ps2 AE in a emulator. But I think they introduce extra input delays.

Nuki came back. Could he stop Hanashi?
Part 1:

Part 2:

A big 20v20 tournament went down in Tokyo yesterday (Feb 11th), organised by Nuki. Players from Osaka and Nagoya came to Tokyo to participate. Rules included a maximum of 2 of the same characters from the Big Four (Claw, Boxer, Chun, O.Sagat) on the same team (e.g. can’t have three Claws or three Boxers on a team).

Tokyo (Kanto) players managed to field one of the strongest lineups in recent years:

East (Kanto)

Muteki (Guile)
YuuVega (Dictator) [*lives in Tokyo now]
Tamashima (Boxer)
Hakase (Dhalsim)
Noguchi (Claw)
Kurahashi (Ryu)
Mattsun (Ken)
Nuki (Chun)
Sashishi (Ryu)
Sasori (Ryu)
Shiki (Boxer)
N. Shogatsu (O. Honda)
yaya (Sagat)
AFO (Blanka)
Hiroyan (Hawk)
Hanashi (Fei)
Souzou (Fei)
Numa (Boxer)
Muu (Dhalsim)
Kotaka (Guile)

The Kanto lineup was pretty stacked.

West (Kansai + Chubu)

Tsuji (Boxer)
Kusumondo (Honda)
Okafei (Feilong)
KKY (Dhalsim) [*lives in Osaka now]
Fujimon (Deejay)
Yomiaido (Ryu)
Teppei (Guile)
The Superstar (Boxer)
Ito (Deejay)
MAO (Claw)
Futachan (Ryu)
Nakamu (Blanka)
Roku (Honda)
Gotoh (Ryu)
Yondaime (Sagat)
OPEMAI (Claw)
Haneyama (Ryu)
Ando (Ryu)
Oreryu (Ryu)

For the Kansai-Chubu team, many old school “legend” players such as Otochun, Aniken and ShootingD unfortunately couldn’t make it for whatever reason.
The format would be 20v20, and then run back again with teams switching 1P/2P sides, and then possibly a third run back if the score was tied 1-1.

I haven’t actually watched the vids yet (at work), but the matches should start from the 1/7 video.

btw i always thought yuuvega is from tokyo. where did he used to live?

edit: DAMN I read everything in your post I didn’t know there is a spoiler.
boggleminds would you mind removing it for the pleasure of others?

thanks

Thanks papasi.

btw i always thought yuuvega is from tokyo. where did he used to live?
I believe he is one of the absurdly good Osaka players.

Edit: Nuki talked about Aniken and Oto at the beginning of the video. Does anyone know what he was saying? I wish the whole thing could get translated.

Edit2: Here’s a video, papasi:

Inoki, D, Yuu, Komoda, and AniOto (+ Tsuji, who didn’t get to play).

yeah, chun players from HDR have been trying to explain this to me since back in 2010. I just couldn’t wrap my head around it. Then just 2 days ago I was playing chun while really sleepy, and I charged super before I had it and it still came out.

It hit me like a fucking brick. Asshole chun players couldn’t just explain it to me straight. fuck head chun players.
