My matches from the Solo 3v3 at X-Mania. My most enjoyable tournament there because it was the first tournament of the event and was still on point, and I didn’t have to play my friends one after the other (like in the pure solo one). I placed top 8.

Me (Blanka x3) vs Aerorockman (Guile/Dee-Jay/Dictator)


This guy was my training partner on online HDR for a long time. I think he started playing 2d games before me but still we came up around the same time on HDR and ST. Was really good to meet him in the tournament. His brother is ErCommander, another really good Blanka. edit for some reason this video only has me vs his guile, I go on to beat his DJ and Dic but its not on video :(.

Lol man I wasn’t too scared of this guy but I really hate the mirror match. Oh and when he picked his character he was mashing on the stick and buttons and accidently picked O.Blanka, I didn’t even realize since I was staring at the ground trying to get into “the zone” and I thought siiiiiiick how do you pick that color when I finally looked up at the screen. Then finally I got it and he re-picked his character. lol.

Me (Blanka x3) vs Kurahashi (Ryu x3)


Oh man, I didn’t even start up too bad in this but I was outclassed. I believe I did the best out of everyone there vs his Ryu in freeplay though. One time was funny, I was on a winning streak and a baby blue ryu comes on and I’m thinking that’s R-Jive since he was on the other side waiting and that’s his color. So I just do my thing. I win and people are like “do you know who that was???” haha. Good times.

Me (Blanka x3) vs Milanea (Honda x2/N.Hawk)


I mentioned this match before. This guy OCVd our team in the actual team thing with Honda. He’s a strong honda as he OCVd for winning the entire thing vs Kurahashis team as well but still. I beat him in this so!

Me (Blanka x3) vs Wolmar (Dhalsim/Chun-Li/Honda)


Wolmar is the 2nd best active player in Europe IMO. It’s funny though online I can’t beat his Sim but in offline tournaments it’s 3-0 for me vs his Sim. So that’s good. His honda is the true threat for me in tournaments.

I dunno what I was on about when I mentioned JPN format and first game and stuff. I probably meant that the solo thing was single elim as opposed to double elim. Anyways maybe cool for the GGPO heads to put a face to the name.

Good job man. I see alot of the way I play Blanka in the way you play Blanka. One small thing that I noticed is was against Wolmar’s E. Honda. You have the roll to hop over and then cross over down. After the first one I am sure you noticed he was butt slamming out to avoid the cross-over and you would only punished once with a medium punch. What I started to before I stopped playing was immidiately follow that cross-over attempt with a jumping fierce punch to follow this butt slam. You hit him everytime (do more damage) and another thing is you are right on top of him again, so he has to decide whether he is going to butt slam again or headbutt. From there you can jump straight up with light kick to stop those moves, attempt a cross-over again, or if he hesitates just bite him. Good job though E. Honda is so annoying to fight its really boring.

what you saw there is frustration at work. I know in a tournament setting you go to plan B when matches go like that but i was just… I dunno.

I liked the Gief-Ryu match there. Gief took both rounds, but they were pretty close.

It is a cool game, fun, but competitively, it has serious issues. The different versions in AE have not been balanced, they have just been thrown together, mostly. Most characters can not compete against CE ones, specially Guile and Bison. If you can play AE, you can play Super Turbo/X, so you are fine, I suppose. ST fans also have some issues due to certain versions being different, such as S2 Sagat and the default ST Chun, but this is a minor issue, IMHO.

Now another subject: checking NH2’s new post, I had found a link to some streaming that, in turn, had another link to this Random 3 on 3 event. Great players there: Kurahashi, Muteki, Nuki, Hakase, KKY, Shin, Toutanki, Sashishi, Sasori, Hiroyan, Opemai and more. It looks like they randomize players each round, instead of having a fixed team.

I watched ST Playah vs this best sim online from Japan and STP got alot (maybe 50 percent or better) of matches off Hydlide…once he got in and knocked xak aka Hydlide down he mixed it up on him as meaty …it was epic …I wonder if DGV got that many wins vs Hydlide in the set? Hehe in case people forget who the best ST Ryu on ggpo was in the USA was not too long ago…it was ST Playah the force to be reckond with on ggpo besides Giga msx and Afro back in 08-09
