The pre-registration period evidently wasn’t given near enough time to breathe so they could gauge interest and attendance commitment. Sounds to me that they took a poorly educated punt on numbers covering the running costs and just plain ran with an ambitious battleplan.
Pretty silly. This ought to work as an expensive lesson. Hopefully future fighting game events they run learn from this.
The new Juri costume comes with some nice colors. When I switched to PC, I lost all the colors I bought with FM, and I ain’t touching survival mode so I’ve been rocking color 1 & 2 all day. It’s a nice change.
Things I generally expect from a venue/tournament:
Safety
Adequate accommodations as far as space for players and bystanders is concerned.
Tournament runs generally on time/fast.
Setups are numerous enough to keep people playing but have enough room to ensure comfort while playing.
All dlc characters and things needed to play the game are available as far as dlc is concerned (I don’t expect stages or costumes as long as the tournament agreed upon stages are available, but all characters need to be available on all systems)
A place/places to eat that are close to the venue and reasonably priced and can handle the traffic of said tournament.
All games in the tournament are reasonably priced to enter.
Reasonable parking, preferably free or very cheap.
From there there’s a lot of secondary stuff as far as I’m concerned, things like hotel accommodation, community events, giveaways, dev kiosks etc etc
I think tournies nowadays are to busy doing all that extra stuff… that stuff is nice, but if I’m at a tourney I’m there primarily to play games and catch up with friends, so make it easy for me to do that and I’m a happy camper as long as I get something to eat without waiting an hour or walking a mile.
