The SSF4 Dictator Request Thread

Yeah, DR and HS could result in nasty mind games in ST. Of course on the flip side bison was basically screwed in the corner. His IV incarnation has more tools on that level so I guess they thought it would be a good idea to take other stuff away. Honestly though I don’t think an improved HS or DR would really be that much of a benefit. Don’t get me wrong, the shenanigans on that level would be great and if you could incorporate some kind if High/Low/Throw guessing game like with demon flip that would be awesome. However, that’s just not going to happen. If you really wanted to fix the whole backing up thing then just drop a bunch of frames from a whiffed HS so that it’s safe on whiff or so bison can cancel it (like a canceled wall dive). This way if the other person doesn’t block it they don’t get free damage.

Right now the way it is it seems that all the guessing/shenanigans are going to Makoto… If she plays even remotely like her 3S incarnation then her command grab is an absolute threat and can lead to the sort of gameplay Bison used to have: guess right a couple of time sand you win. She also did an insane amount of stun in 3S which was sort of Bison’s thing in much of SF2.

This is all theory craft though. I don’t mind that Seth said that the old cast would only be getting minor fixes. I’m fine with that. I don’t think Bison needs more than a few very minor fixes to be more competitive. He doesn’t even have to be that high in the list and I’ll still play him. I just don’t want him to go from a solid mid upper tier to bottom. From the looks of it the new additions to the cast might crowd him out a bit.

I hope Capcom doesn’t notice anything good about Bison and decide to nerf it.

I disagree. While he DOES have tools for corner use now, all are easily baited/punished.

I disagree. HS is a major tool for Bison, and by increasing the damage, or tracking, would easily up his game. DR is a joke now, and only used as empty DR into throw/cLK, anything else and it’s getting either focused or cMK’d and you’re whiffing. It also is virtually impossible to crossup with, and it trades poorly with too many moves.

I’d rather they just force a character to block. If somebody wants to back dash or forward dash away, fine, I gots no problem with that. But when everybodies natural reflex when seeing an attack coming is to block, and that causes characters to easily avoid HS and punish because HS recovery is ass, then we have a problem. Fix tracking (mostly in the air), force block, increase damage, less trading (and please still knockdown on trade) and allow exSD to hit after an AA HS (not just AA ex HS).

They also said returning cast would be getting new moves as well.

Is it me, or does Hakkan sound like Wario or Waluigi (or even N64 Mario)???

Laudanam/Trolle is reporting on all the listed changes for dictator from the build that was sent to specific beta testers to test out the new 3S cast.

Well it’s been over 2 hours and 22 minutes and I haven’t seen any news.

Oddly enough Trolle made a post about 2 Hours and 22 minutes after he said that regarding some Akuma info…

I was just thinking- maybe the way to really fix the headstomp/DR mixup would be to Bison a huge advantage when it came to the skulldiver mixup.

IMO DR’s primary use is to bait Dps and punish. Thats the only typical situation where it actually works and you can actually do damage with it. Only issue here is maybe it needs to do slightly more damage because even if you bait the DP you have to kind of know which DP they’re going to throw out. It does ok damage as is but honestly +10 dmg and it’d probably be perfect and worth the risk/reward.

Back to my point- as it is now shotos and characters with DP like moves have no good reason to actually guess and try to DP if its a stomp because the skulldiver mixup isn’t threatening at all since they avoid it totally for free with c.mk. Even without c.mk though, its pretty easy to deal with thanks to the long startup and short active frames along with the fact it doesn’t crossup.

So if a Shoto sees Bison flying in the air the only thing they need to do is go for the tech when he lands- but DR is so slow they can pretty much whiff a tech twice and still block/focus or even DP the devil’s arm.

If they boosted Bison’s skulldiver options to the point where the skulldiver was really dangerous then shotos and other characters wouldn’t just want to keep letting you bounce off of their head and they’d actually have to try and DP the initial descent every now and then. This would actually allow DR to work as a DP bait and give it some actual use and also maybe make the headstomp risk worth it.

It’d probably be a good idea to have Bison build meter when he starts up the DR like he does with the HS so they can’t just look at his bar and have it figured out.

Yes it does. You just need to dip down very far and do the lp flip, or even the mp flip. It will flip right out of dp range and hit it as it is still recovering.

The only issue with this is as i said- you have to know its the lp dp- because if they do a HP or ex dp you’ll get hit which is why I think dr needs a slight damage boost. but I haven’t played this game as much lately and I only really tested it with the LP flip so maybe there is a single way to bait and punish all types of Dps from a certain character that I don’t know of but I doubt it.

You can almost always expect the lp dp to come out if they have ultra and are about to die- I bait+punish that shit all the time after a knockdown- they almost always think its just another chip stomp.
