The SS Tenka Thread: The Resurrection

You can see some new match videos (no sound) here, including Mina, Sankuro, Yun-Fei, Rera, Rimururu and the SS4-groove combos (it went only up to 9 hits):

Mina fucking beasting. Yo beez, I’m playing Yoshitora. Amakusa’s a bitch huh? Charlottes can be tough too.

The reason there aren’t many posts here is simply because the game isn’t accessible to 95% of the US population…

This means the Japanese will figure out everything, we’ll start out a year behind the curve, and be a joke.

I don’t know about being a joke. I played in Japan twice in the past 2 years playing Samsho and peeps were very impressed with me. They practicaly worshipped my friends Kuse. You just have to make the most of your gameplay.

I never thought of Samsho as that type of game (where you can fall behind like that). Sure, there is stuff to learn, but the game is mostly based on reading your opponent. It’s not like GGXX or Marvel something where you have to learn a lot of shit before you’re even remotely a threat.

god…mina vs kyoshiro isn’t right. ok, out of curiousity…and also cuz i stopped playing samsho after 2nd one…what supers do we have here? new supers or from samsho2? kyoshiro’s super is same idea as the samsho2 super. although the art work is probably from newer game but the idea is the same. what about other chars? does genan still have his drill your stomach/ass until you cry super?

Yunfei seems nerfed

was at a local arcade today (in takatsuki) and they had a big sstenka comp on. saw a mad match between rimu and yumeji. the rimu killed it!

might give her a go after seeing that shit.

No one knows? Also, is Sieger top tier? It seems like that running straight punch is stupid good. Along with run throw/overhead mixup and that super block damage move he seems really basic but really good. And then he’s got that bodysplash and the fire bodysplash special that crosses up fast…

Too early too say honestly, Seiger isn’t bad that much we do know. Personally I think Seiger is solid but not near the best.

Cham cham is top tier. That is all.

ive noticed a disturbing trend in the last week or so with this game.

seems the inability for everyone to roll as they get up like in previous games has created a new and i would say not so good trend in gameplay style for the moment at least, ppl are playing hardcore meaty/wakeup games and having great success.

it seems that with many (and possibly all) characters there are too many options available and very little risk invloved making for a game that promotes a knock down and wakeup mixup style of play.

take this earthquake (or the chamcham) i watched today (chamcham last night), the guy playing is one of the best in osaka (so is the cham cham player, a kohatsu crew player) and had 45+ wins at an average level arcade out near my work. the bulk of his game was knocking down and keeping you in the corner. he would then dash->slide kick, dash->low kick, dash->fakeout->throw, dash->s.K->fart throw, etc. basically between watching this match and a hundred or so others it seems that the new safe wakeup game (wake up rolls now out and aa’s nowhere near as good as sf and the like) is in the favour by quite a long shot to the attacker and that lots of characters have good options to mixup to a degree and with such little risk that in the future the whole game is going to be about mixing up on wakeup…

@uncauzi maybe you could give this a try with different characters?

sorry for the jumbled post… my brain is mush today…

Roger, this game does favor wakeup but reading will be less difficult as time goes on. We personally don’t mind it so much but corner trapping can be a bitch. This is kind of old news to us because as soon as we knew rolling was out the shit hit the fan. Imo it’s something that just has to be dealt with but not gamebreaking. My freind is already having great success stopping Amakusas divebomb game among others like Cham Cham with Kuse of all people.

However yeah, things are very paper rock scissors on the getup. Honestly though in high level SSVS play getting up could be “almost” as tricky against an educated opponent.

You are exactly right, it only took everyone around here a few days to figure out that okizeme in this game is way too strong. A lot of the mix-up options are not only safe, but WAY too fast to react to with any consistency. The game simply becomes rock/paper/scissors (in the attacker’s favor) whenever you score a knockdown. I have perfected people a couple of times after just one knockdown already (I’ve been using Charlotte).

Anyway, I do think this game would be much better with a delayed get up and/or a counter roll instead of just a crappy quick get up (with which the only reward is to avoid getting OTG’d).

The thing is, I knew it wasn’t just my character, because pretty much every character has some stupid okizeme that is impossible to react to. Earthquake’s is really dumb and impossible to react to as well, he’s one that sticks out in my head because his oki is so safe after a meaty fart projectile.

Anyway, this game is going to be really random at high level play. Good thing GG Slash comes out tomorrow so I can start playing something else =D

next on the list to check for brokenness is chamcham. how to block monkey fb as you wake up and as the fb hits they do the dp pounce grab?

or good ways to get around her crazy long game, skull throw and boomerang?

Cham Cham is really good?

Ugh I hate Cham Cham.

Cham Cham is what Cham Cham always was, brain dead good with the simplest keep away pounce games. As far as that trap is concerned, you punch the other guy in the chin

Actually because of all of our personal disdain for cham cham since SS2. (Along with Ukyo mind you) we haven’t put cham cham abuse into the hands of our most capable yet. But yeah, that’s the character mad said will turn into a favorite very fast, especially among brain dead players with the IQ of dog shit riddled with corn.

Lets just say we tend to rage explosion just to get out of shit and it friggin sux. Starting next week we’re going no holds barred and going to start breaking the game. We made a pact just to abuse our favorites after the game got fixed.

How goes Jubei and Charlotte in this game?

charlotte has had one change made to her that im not really fond of. her fb is now a sonic boom, her button mash move is now an fb motion. you sometimes get an fb when you want to throw out the sword rush…

otherwise the same as jubei seems to be.

what new combos they have is the question, a much more combo friendly game (see earthquake who can s.K->super/spin move/fart command throw), im trying to see if i can combo j.C(crossup)->s.A or B->???.

her qcb+SLASH now combos as does her used to be mash move… heaps of combos have become possible for everyone.

Yeah, combos have been dumbed down to insane proportions, I’ll try and note some soon. I’m not sure if I like or not yet. Bus as of now I’m still jiggy.

Jubei eh, he hasn’t been the same since SS2, but then again,
who has? Heh.
