The SS Tenka Thread: The Resurrection

here is a noob question. i finally got the game, i’ve been at work all day, i can finally sit down and play for a while. very exciting. the question is: i know the game uses 5 buttons, but the setup has 8 functions, and I have a 6 button custom stick. which function corresponds to the E button, and what are the button combinations for the other functions?

I’m about to play and I’ll try to figure it out, but I figured there were like 25 people here at least that already know. And I browsed every page of the thread since the games release, I think, and only saw this question asked, but never answered. Thanks in advance guys.

EDIT: Ok, I guess special is E?? A+B uses item, C+D throws, and B+C+D is spirit use? Please correct me if I’m wrong, I haven’t gotten down on SamSho in forever, and I was never really really into it because I don’t play emulation games a lot, even though I have all of them.

New question. Can someone give me a brief rundown of the grooves? I don’t know what is what, it’s just 6 random ishes to me. Are there any pics with descriptions of what is what? I’m looking thru this thread but there are pages upon pages of BS, and then a bunch of combo stuff, but I’m not really finding any basic game info.

I’m also finding the command list less than useful with so many options in kanji before you get to commands. I really want to get into this game, but there is so much more japanese than KOFXI and Garou, or any other japanese arcade style game I’ve ever played, I’m feeling a bit intimidated.

RE-EDIT: Damn I’m ridiculous. The reason I’m having so much trouble I belive, is because guardcrush.net is currently down. I did find this, though, http://sega.ludost.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=10275&sid=0042103a10bdbd497031746c2b0ac6d9 and it is a big help. I’ll be enjoying this game in almost no time.

mmm… that is so much better. thanks a lot. i wish i wasn’t too tired to play more. this game is insanity, i don’t know if im every gonna get around to KOFXI.

Man I can also help you out with like anything you want on this game…trust me…

If I can’t I know people who can…

Yeah you’re asking beginner questions which are there at the cyberfanatix page and at the beginning of this thread itself.

Good to see people still playing this game.

I looked around at the beginning of the thread but could only find references to guardcrush, which was down all day and night. I didn’t know about cyberfanatix, and Googling this game brings you the option to buy it and a review or two. Now that I got the basics down I can mess around for a few days and possibly contribute something worthwhile. I’m having fun with Ten Ukyo at the moment. This game looked good in videos, I thought the grooves seemed like kind of a bad idea, but after playing I can see that this is SamSho perfection, and I can’t see how it won’t be my favorite fighting game ever. Thanks for helping a noob.

Well if you have any questions feel free to ask… I will be more than happy to help you out.

any word on a US release, or even better, an Xbox 360 release?

Man, this is one SS title I seriously need to import. I’ve been mostly playing KOF:XI, Garou:MOT, and GG:Slash

I’ve been interested in NGBC and MBAC but SS is just one

No word of a US release for now…we keep waiting…because I want all the quotes translated and the endings and in game quotes translated from Japanese to English.

I tell you what though…,.for entertainment value just hearing the surfer American guy say the names is nothing short of hilarious…

Edit- Get all those games there man…it’ll be worth it and a fresh array of fighting games on your table.

SS:Tenka hasn’t came out has it?

Not in the states…but all you gotta do is get a Swap Magic for your PS2 and a flip top…save yourself some cash and do it…then you have everything at your disposal…

Umm yea, I know that, how else do you think i’m able to play Slash and KOF:XI on my PSTwo?

My question is was meant interms of Japan’s release?

It’s been out…go to www.play-asia.com

You can get it now…

It came out in January… The 19th I think??

So you can easily import it…

Where I can see a specific genan match ? I know there are many sites with ss6 videos but until now I never saw him in action…

Hmmm…there are very few right now that have Genan in action…you’ve got to search www.sihon.net hard for a couple…

They rarely have many Cham Cham or other characters in action except the top tier characters because of tournament play (which now I totally understand)

The SBO latest video has the latest batch with Genan vs. Yunfei…quite a bit of Genan vids…youtube doesnt have them and I have not heard/seen anywhere having had them leaked out yet…so sihon.net and the SBO latest DVD are your best bets.

Also goforbroke hub updates with Tenka match vids sporadically…and youtube has a couple…

I know I’ve said this in other posts, but in the arcade version of TK, you can change the language settings to English, for those who have the A-Wave version. As good, alright great of a game Tenka is, I still can’t get into it like I can 2 and 4.

Many still say 2 is the best…I like 4 also…4 kinda turned me off quickly by the uber-broken infinites off backturn…ala SSiii also…

Bust Ukyos 100%…and Bust Haohs in SSIV’s broken stuff…

something they fix in Tenka by making the characters immediately turn around after roll to the other side of the opponent.

That’s not why the BT stuff works in 3 or 4. You could still immediately block after someone did a posistion change. In 3 the sidestep in really fast and you were more likely to be in recovery, and in both 3 and 4, you can position change throw someone so that they are BTed.

Not to jump off the TK talk, but in SS2 not many people know anything about the Power Slash canceling… :looney: While not every character can do this, the ones who can…Hanzo, Galford, Jubei, Genjuro and Ukyo are the ones I know about… Kinda ruin the game…

I’ll explain more on this later or in the SS2/4 thread…As I’m going to be late for work.

Yeah yeah I think I know what you are talking about now…
