They’re not overly complicated if you’ve been using it all your life. It’s the way most other countries use, to go past the language barrier I think. Think about it, it is easier to do it the other way at some points, but how about games that use letters instead of jab strong fierce? Commands like d,d+D would confuse the shit out of you if you’re like “Wait, did he press down three times, or press D at the end?”
It’s definitely preference, but it wouldn’t hurt to learn both at all.
Yeah… I was kind of resistant to the whole number system at first, too, but once you get used to it… it’s nice.
There really needs to be a standard notation that everyone just accepts and uses for this stuff. It’s so confusing reading 3s movelists or strats because people will either use LP/LK/MP/MK/HP/HK, or Jab/Short/Strong/Forward/Fierce/Rdhouse, but sometimes they’ll mix them up and use FP/FK, they’ll abbreviate things in a weird way… you literally have to decipher which system they’re using before you can read what they wrote.
Yeah that crossup combo with Charlotte is great…the game really is rather balanced with the exception of the Rengoku Amakusa BS etc… hhahaha and some others…it is well balanced IMO.
With more finding out the greatness of this and NGBC people need to head on over to GuardCrush.NET please!!! I’ve been putting my work into Tenka and others…any feedback is appreciated!!
I just started a thread on Guardcrush about getting the American Tenka scene going. If you don’t post there already, please go now, contribute some ideas:
FYI guys, just to try and promote this game further I took it out to the DFW tournament this and NGBC to let people see how the game is played.
While many of the big three players may not have necessarily liked it, it was a good start by exposing them to these SNK games. With Tenka they were floored when they saw the # of characters in the game. They called Marco “Cable” in NGBC, and it was awesome exposing people to the SNK games.
More of us need to do this if we want to get our games out there!!
Yeah Plano is not too far from Dallas. I am in Denton, my house is like the way back to Oklahoma.
