Got my copy last night(finally) and although I havent had extended time with it, I was immediately pleased.
There does need to be a clolor edit mode faq somewhere. I read japanese and I still cant figure out how to make my customs save. That and I need a visual guide to the grooves or whatever, becasue I am tryna memorize what does what…I will search thru previous posts, but if anyone posts a link hastily, it would be greatly appreciated.
I really want this game, problem is i cant afford a chipped/japanese ps2 right now so i have to wait awhile(customs, shipping). I hope its worth the wait.
I play Caffein Nicotein, Wan Fu and Gaira as well.
Hmmmm…I haven’t had the game long enough to make that determination, but I dig him so far. Are you that much an expert (having explored every character on the game) or is your opinion based on tier ratings?
That’s the Kenki gauge. It depletes everytime you hit with a slash, whiff one or they block it. The larger the bar is, the more damage that your slashes do. Deters people who like to whiff a ton for annoyance.

Well it’s not based on teir ratings, it’s largely based on my own experience playing him. here a few things that bother me about him.
his best combo move hcb+f hs has no range is hard to use correctly and is only truly worth it if you have powered it up a bit, which is hard to do anyway/
his pokes sorta suck. good range but no priority, his best jumping attack (HS) has a teeny hit box and his hard to hit with.
He doesn’t seem suited for one particular groove, mostly because he’s very basic.
his overhead sucks, it seemd good at first but now even if you hit with it while they are standing it’s punishable, and if they are crouching you can’t really get much unless they are crouching.
his cancelable moves have such low range.
Good things.
Projectile is good, nice mixup plus the eagle follow up is nice and good for other mixups especially wakeup block stun stuff.
he has decent anti-air
you can combo his overhead off his rdp+s move (the jumpy overhead.)
So, I ordered Tenka, and it should be getting here soon. I’m a complete newbie to the SS series (I played 1-4 on an arcade emulator, but playing on a keyboard is really awful). I think I’ve read all I need to know about the basics.
I’m really interested in learning Yumeji and Rera. Anyone have any advice on how to use either of them? BnBs? Advice on supers, grooves? Anything would be appreciated.
