The SRK Science Thread 2.0

I thought I read a page 2 on this, or maybe they edited it again to fit it all on 1 page.

“Scientific instruments showed that the gas had reached an average daily level above 400 parts per million — just an odometer moment in one sense, but also a sobering reminder that decades of efforts to bring human-produced emissions under control are faltering.”

What efforts? As far as I can tell, the people in a position to actually do something about this are too busy jacking off into each other’s mouths.

Eh… least of my worries. Once drilling for fossil fuels becomes inefficient that’s when I’ll be concerned.

We’re not going to do anything about that, either. At least not until the teat is dry and chapped.

The reason why I’ve never really been concerned over climate change is because fossil fuels are the main source of greenhouse gases and we’re running out. I always thought the pursuit was futile because China exists and they don’t give a shit about anything.

We’re running out, but there’s plenty left in the ground–we’ve already earmarked several times more than enough for mining, in fact–to put us beyond the point of a salvageable climate. In that sense, climate change is the shorter term problem, even though we’d be running into the consequences an exhausted fuel supply before we run into the consequences of exhausting the little bit of temperature wiggle room we have left.

America’s problem is that these major business conglomerates own everything and won’t budge unless there’s a threat to their own interests. China’s problem is that it’s basically one giant business conglomerate with the same mentality. If there is a solution, it has to involve a threat to those interests.

Terrorism is for dingbats and losers, plus it doesn’t work, so there has to be another way.

They’ll stop making money when everyone is dead.

so…basically this guy?

last weeks Real Time (i think) had a dude on there that said changing our farming tactics will allow the soil to absorb a huge amount of the Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere bringing it down to an “acceptable” level.

i have faith in Monsanto!

What with all the lead in the soil, I don’t think there’s much room left for the carbon dioxide.

Since there’s no junk science thread…

I was in a hospital waiting room the other day and they were showing Dr. Oz. Just let that sink in.

really, white shadow? after all the public knows about the corporation, you really think there are Monsanto stans? who fuck on the planet not being directly paid by them is Pro-Monsanto? terrible.

anyway, Vegetarian Shaming Sundays.

With flat-earthers and holocaust deniers, it’s not hard to believe there are monsanto supporters.

Since we’re on the topic of Monsanto and soil, the chief mechanical engineer in my department used to work in a facility next door to Monsanto and apparently they used to dump bad batches of Agent Orange in ditches or the like. He also mentioned that because of the vapors or something like that, his safety glasses would start to pit because apparently some of their crap is gaseously volatile.

Not only them, but apparently many companies back in the days used to do that so yay EPA!

Time-lapsed satellite images show how the surface of the Earth has changed over the past 30 years.

Geological features on Mars formed by water erosion!

so fucking cool

Thanks for reminding me to post this:
