I liked No Country but it just reminds me of Pulp Fiction minus any humor.
so, no quentin commentary on the death proof disk? hmmmā¦
hopefully something like this will get released in the usā¦
You donāt understand. I am saying it just did not need bit at the end were Jones talks to the paralyzed guy and eats breakfast.
???
okā¦
HAHAHAHAHHAHA

the movie would have no point if you didnāt have the last scene and would just finish without finishing the story
funny how QT doesnāt do a death proof commentary, but he does one on Hot Fuzz
itās really good though, itās just Edgar Wright/QT talking about every movie except Hot Fuzz
Have the Coens ever done an audio commentary? I know Blood Simple had one, but that was a really long joke written by them and performed by someone else
i dunnoā¦when i saw the barebones state of the ncfom dvd, i pretty much passed up buying it. buying dvdās without a good commentary feels so emptyā¦especially when dealing with films of quality.
i didnāt know about the hot fuzz oneā¦iām going to have to check that out.
itās on the 3 disk edition of hot fuzz
they have commentaries from real police men and another with wright/tarantino and 3 with the cast/crew
kind of overkill
looking at my collection of coen movies, none really have any special features and no commentaries at all
guess they donāt like them
I am buying that Hot Fuzz DVD right now. Another good commentary is the Cannibal the Musical one with Matt Stone and Trey Parker. They start talking about the film and then they start drinking.
here is a smallā¦āindependentā theater where i live, that shows really cool movies, old schoolā¦independent, limited releasesā¦pretty coolā¦
http://www.loftcinema.com/comingsoon
they also do cool stuff like the 48 hours shoot outā¦sigley would probably dig thisā¦

its a really tight theaterā¦do you guys have something like this where you live???
oh they also have SOFAS and lazy boys in one of their screening rooms!!! its tightā¦

not in san diego, unfortunately. we have like one realy good theater for foriegn releases and one that shows some revival stuff. pg, the bastard, has the new beverly near himā¦
edit: thatās a bummer about the coensā¦iād LOVE to listen to the two of them wax for a couple hours about their filmsā¦
no amount of adjectives and adverbs could properly convey the anger and fury inside me right now:
the New Beverly, the Nuart, the Aero, the Egyptianā¦used to have the Vine on hollywood blvd but itās closing down, we also have a silent movie theater that just plays old silent films with live music, plus there are theaters in japantown that play Kurosawa movies n stuff.
thatās why I donāt buy dvds anymoreā¦netflix + revival theaters = ggpo
ā¦and that list doesnt even count the numerous art house theaters for current releases (not to mention that places like The Grove and the Arclight show those movies anyway)
yeah, like i said, pg is a bastard! not really, i just hate how close he is to many awesome theatersā¦
BREAKING NEWS:
MY SMALL VIDEO PRODUCTION COMPANY JUST BOUGHT OUT ANOTHER SMALL INDEPENDENT FILM COMPANY!!!
i now own the united states distribution rights to 139 crappy european trash and slasher movies for only 6k
iām going to their office tomorrow and picking up the film stock and other stuff
now i need to find a distributor for the dvdās after i remaster them
if i break even that would be great
^
Any notable trash films?
no idea, the titles are all in italian or i never heard of them. theyāre either subtitled or dubbed in english tho
most of them donāt even have imdb entries, but they all received some sort of theatrical run somewhere in europe during the 70s and 80s. i get all the financial data with it, so i figure iāll look for the one that did best at theaters and work from there
so something has to be good and make me money i hope
i bought them mostly cause i know the guy and heās like a million in debt and about to declare bankruptcy, so he would of lost them anyway to some bank that would destroy them
so what i paid him for is actual the value of the film the movies are recorded on, otherwise he could get in some trouble for something
i guess you canāt firesale everything you own then declare bankruptcy
guy was making insane money during the housing boom as a realtor, cleared like 3 million in one year
bought the rights to all this shit because he was a big movie collector, then tried to get into flipping houses and yea with the market now heās broke
you should re-dub them with new dialogā¦
haha, that would be pretty funny, dunno if i can do that though, thereās all these rules. like if i make dvdās i can only have english subtitles because thats the only language i own the rights to, iād have to ask this guy
i think it was a stupid buy and will probably do nothing with them except maybe watch a bunch on my projector, was more to help out a friend
maybe iāll get lucky and find the holy grail and use that to flip into a blue underground type company
the guy also spent almost 100k for these rights, so i guess i got a deal
