Anyone remember the movie “Demolition Man” with Sly Stallone, Wesley Snipes, and Sandra Bullock? Pretty shitty movie, but it’s fun to watch.
Ending scene of that movie is one of my favorites ever
hot fuzz - really funny, the editing tho kinda got to me. the quick pace was nice and funny in some scenes (like when he’s moving to the new town), but other times it just was confusing. the point break reference at the end was so funny
vacancy - surprisingly pretty good
hollywoodland - blah, good performances by everyone IMO but the story was just boring. i guess if you were alive during that time it’d be more relevant, but most of those people are dead now. watched it on HD DVD and it crapped out towards the end so had to use SD side, supposedly a lot of versions of the HD are fucked up
If you don’t mind subtitles or speak German, go see ‘The Lives of Others’, ~ Das Leben Der Anderen. An absolutely fantastic movie, one of the best I’ve seen in years.
JACK VALENTI IS DEAD!!! i know this doesn’t change anything about the mpaa, but the symbolic nature of the event is enough for me to smile. fuck the mpaa and fuck jack valenti is his dead ass hole!
Can’t fucking wait til The Bourne Ultimatum comes out.

I’m concluding I just don’t like Terry Gilliam films. I hated Brazil, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Tideland and now I just saw 12 Monkeys and didn’t like it either. It’s not the stories, it’s the directing for me. Seems too all over the place and has weird and annoying camera angles and unorthodox shots. I don’t care for the pacing either.
I guess I’ll never understand his movies like how I don’t understand why all NYU film students are obsessed with Cronenberg. Every NYU student I hire for temp work goes on and on about his movies like they’re the best thing ever. I just don’t get them tho.
am i the only person ever to think the spiderman movies sucked and not being hyped by the 3rd???
anyway…for those of you that have seen momento, what is the big twist at the end??? i am just curious because i get into arguements about this all the time…

what is there to get in an argument about?
The twist to momento is:
Momento
[details=Spoiler]- He killed his wife accidently with too much insulin
- He makes up clues to trick himself into pursuing a fake killer
I haven’t seen the movie in a while, so forgive me if I’m wrong, but I do remember an interview where they asked, “What motivates you in your life?” as a theme to this movie. Without a purpose (finding his wife’s killer), there is nothing else to motivate his life and keep it going. That’s all he has left, and if it ends, there’s nothing.[/details]
Wow, I didn’t realize we have a flicks thread.
I agree that Spidey 1 & 2 sucked. The only reason I will see the third is Venom, but I still expect the movie to suck.
Memento is awesome
I watched The Fog of War in my Philosophy of War class. God, it is excellent. And thats coming from a fairly conservative individual.
I also did not enjoy Brazil, I do not comprehend all the accolades it gets. I do however, enjoy 12 Monkeys. Fear and Loathing is also not my syle.
Lock Stock is top notch. Also check out Snatch and L4YER CAKE. Both great, but dont expect to be completely blown away like Lock Stock.
My friends and I skipped all our classes opening day of 300 to go see it in IMAX at 11:00 am. There was in-chair moshing and fist pounding the entire time. I fucking loved it.
I hope you are kidding when you said Howling III was not as good as Howling II, because correct me if I am wrong, but Howling II is “My Sister was a Teenage Werewolf.” If so, it is one of the worst movies I have ever seen, horror or otherwise. Haha.
I will be visiting this thread a dozen times a day. I watch so many movies its stupid. Later all
It’s just your sister is a werewolf and I’m guessing you havent seen part 3 then. Howling 2 is all sorts of awesomeness and is entertaining at every turn.
I just saw Smokin Aces…decent movie. Alot of shooting scenes, and alot of actors I know about in this movie, and some I didn’t even know were. Good job to Keys and Common.
The ending confused me though…and I woudn’t have guessed it.

Spoiler
I know that Heller = Sparazza…but was Sparazza was really a fictional mob boss made by the feds? Why did the feds want him dead in the first place, onlt to want him alive so badly that they would kill Buddy to save him? Did Carruthers know boforehand? I guess what Messner did at the end was justified…
Alica Keys was smokin hot in that movie…:ihitit:
Just saw The Hitcher on DVD.
Some creepy moments, but pretty weak overall.
Not bad, not good. Short movie.
well my side of it is, he really does not have that “disease” (losing memory every 15 min), it is something he made up to make it easier to con people, as he is a con artist…the hardest thing to remember is not to forget to remember…he says something along those lines, and it is hinted at in the side story of the old man…
but people dont agree with that, so i always get into this discussion…
