Does anyone else here have issues with family and friends habitually calling/texting you to borrow money? I’ve been dealing with this ish since I got my first job in 2007, it’s MAD annoying

Not me personally. My siblings are self-sufficient and my relationship with the rest of my family is formal at best. They know that asking me for money out of the blue would just be way too blatant and cynical.
My wife does make it a habit to send her immediate family some money to help them out.

Sure, I get paid decently, but I know how to save and keep a side hustle so I can occasionally treat myself. These folks need to do the same. The sad part is, the ppl asking have other fully functioning adults living in the house with them

No one I. My family really ever asks, but I do offer if I have it and see they need it, depending on the fam member of course, some of them don’t seem to know what loan means.

My family used to do this.
Then I actively minimized contact with them. Between them hitting me up for cash, and their bill collectors trying to get me to get them to pay up - it was time to walk away.
I’m not well off, and coming from a tribe of imbeciles I too struggle with finances; but I’m working pretty damn hard to improve. Which is more than can be said for the kin.

Yea. One of my brothers got my other brother to lend him 20 bucks and a pack of cigs. Promised to oay back on thanksgiving. Turkey day rolls around and no 20 bucks or cigs. Ok fine see you Xmas. Xmas day rolls around and still no Eddies or Smokes.
Can’t even pay back 30 dollars worth of shit man.

I’m lucky in that the only person I’ve ever had to lend money to was my mom, and she always paid back (eventually).
But yeah, I just can’t get into the mind of people who can’t pay back amounts under 100 bucks. Even if it hurts you to pay people back, you want that dude to lend you money again if you’re yet again about to hit those pit spikes, right? I only get that shit if they’re like broke broke and can’t pay anyone.
