The SRK Lounge v. 6.0: Random nonsense and tomfoolery

So many city dwellers do share in this idea. My question is where the actual fuck does all the traffic come from then? :joy::joy::joy:

All the dumb fucks who think driving is an imperative in order to be an adult. My brother says without a car you have no freedom, but I can get anywhere he can without owning a car so…:man_shrugging:

I have to have a car to get around here but for almost 2 years I used the bus and my feet in Chicago. If the public transport was better in many cities or work/school was close by, I’m sure many folks would not have a car.

If you live in a Major city, sometimes having a car is more of a determent than an accet.
Like in NYC, you can get around faster walking than Driving. And that assuming you can find a place to park.

Cars are essential in california

Bet money it depends on what part of California you are in.

Sub Urbs sure, but not the Urban cities, trying to go from one end of LA to another takes 5 hours or more.

Does LA represent all of California or does it represent LA?

I just using it for LA, as LA has the worst traffic in the country.
But I want to bring up LA as not all of Cali is the same. With in every major city you are better off with mass transit than having a car if you need to get about. As traffic is shit regardless where you go city wise.

Speaking on behalf of other flyover state residents, la is pictured when thinking of california. Blame hollywood :man_shrugging:

There’s an overall decline in the number of people with driver’s licences, there are many reasons for that :

Pretty much this.

Public transportation in cities like Toronto and Chicago dunk on my area. This is something I enjoy about visiting those cities, you don’t need to wait 15-30-45 minutes to catch a ride to some location. Not to mention they also have better thought out systems, where say - if it’s an awful climate, you’re underground out of the elements rather than standing on a street corner freezing your balls off wondering where in the hell that bus is.

I do enjoy my car, but I also miss all the reading I got done riding the bus and letting someone else drive.

It doesn’t need to be an either / or proposition. It would be optimal to have the option to only use my car for recreation and travel, and take public transportation for work. Unfortunately most of America seems to view public transportation as a plague instead of a net benefit.

In some places it is a plague. I don’t use the Bus in Tucson, they are drug infested and gross. That’s why I bought and ride a bike. I can ride clear across town in an hour and half if I hoof it.
