This is really stupid and I’m going to tell you why.
Moving out of New York won’t solve it. This is on the federal level. I’ll get charged the same no matter where I live and to just lower my quality of life because the government wants to tax me out the ass is ridiculous. No one should have to go through that. It shouldn’t even be up or discussion. State taxes only amount to so much but they are always covered. To tell me that even though I gave them almost a third of my salary that it still isn’t enough is insulting. My job is much more complex than that of a fast food worker, yet they get paid more or almost equal than I do after taxes. Wtf? Where in the world does that make sense? Why don’t I just abandon my career and flip a burger or two because I’ll get paid the same amount?
I looked over my chick’s paycheck (she works as a server) and because she’s charged in a lower tax bracket she actually brings home MORE than I do by $100-200. Fuck that noise. I’m about to apply at her place for work.
As for the latter of your post, my guy is as crooked as they come. He got me out of a four-figure bill I owed the feds from my freelancing LLC by helping me put in some serious deductions. If he’s looked at it from every angle an still says I owe, he’s going to be on the money.

Leaving New York isn’t an option. I did that once and realized the rest of the U.S. sucks dicks. If/when I move, it won’t be anywhere in this country. But yeah, this reaming on taxes is just abuse. I love how low-skilled workers cry about not having more money than the next man so they want the middle-class and the rich/wealthy heavily taxed.
“Oh you make $60K/year and whine that you can only take $25K home? FUCK YOU! Oh, me? I earn $19K a year and take all of it home and still live on EBT and get government assistance on my apartment and have three kids and no I didn’t graduate college so what?”
I hate all of these people. Tax the super wealthy? I’m okay with that to a degree. After all, what’s the point in taking more money home if it’s just going to be taxed anyway? May as well give it to employees who perform well and thus build up their happiness and productivity. But you’re taxing someone like me who makes a salary that’s great in small towns but is bare minimum for New York. Get the fuck outta here with that.

ugh no it’s not. Although, you’ll get taxed the same federal wise. Lower taxes outside the city state, with a decreased cost of living on every front will net you more for the same $$$. Which means you have more disposable income. the only downside to moving out is that you have to be sure you can get a job where you are looking, and a good chunk of $$$ for moving costs, downpayment, etc. You aren’t moving to the boondocks, you can get more for less outside that place.
decreased cost of living =! lower quality life.
What’s more important, being able to work at home, or having more money?
I’d say its a country that has the wrong values.

My accountant said in an e-mail I should claim less allowances for next year. I ask him how that would affect my take-home pay.
“well, you may make $50-100 less a week.”

WOW. So now he’s telling me I’m going to have to lower my weekly pay to $500-550 (That means I’m going to take home roughly half of what I earn) in order to stop them from getting in my pocket. I can’t believe this. By the end of today I’m either going to kill myself or just quit and get a job at McDonald’s. There really is no reason for me to work so hard just to have everyone else in my pocket to take it away.

I tried living out of New York. I really did not like it at all. No matter how much more money it’ll get me, I know I won’t be happy. I lived in San Francisco for a year, didn’t have much trouble finding some freelance work. I could have afforded it, but it sucked. It was NOT New York and I mean that as negatively as possible. The U.S. any further west is a shithole.
I would work in Amsterdam, France, U.K., but I need to have an employer bring me out there and they need to prove only I can do that job.
I don’t want to own property, either. I’m happy renting. Either way, I know leaving New York will make me severely depressed.

I just can’t believe it. I don’t make that much but half of my pay is being taken. In gross, I’m way over the poverty line. In actual take-home, I’m under it. Guess which one the government likes to go by.

If I ever marry the girl I’m with now (let’s be serious, this ain’t happening) I’d move there because I could work remotely in the U.S. I have no want to move to a country that uses pubic hair to write its script, though.
Much harder than flipping burgers. I’m charged with employees, I oversee the internship program for the entire company, I have to travel for work, run ads, hire actors, write scripts, press releases, and websites, deal with reporters, write for magazines, and answer my boss’s wants. That’s just part of what I do. I just happen to be efficient at it so I have free time during the day.
Don’t be mad I can do that at my job and others can’t. That’s their problem, not mine. My job doesn’t force them to do shit. But they can vote and force me to pay an unfair share of taxes.
None of that sounds remotely hard…and the fact that people actually pay raz0r to write is a sign of the end times imo.
