I no longer have a computer, I just have a Samsung Galaxy Tab2. It is essentially an oversized smartphone that does less stuff. The onscreen keyboard is ass, which is why I occasionally have spelling errors in my posts. As soon as I can afford a real computer, I will get back to sig-making.
And as far as me wasting my time, posting on an internet forum isn’t exactly changing the world either.
It’s not that I’m against Native Americans being used as mascots, it’s more about how it’s done.
“Redskins” is offensive and was used as a racial slur. It would be like calling a team the blackskins or yellowskins and having their mascot be a Zulu or Mongolian warrior. We are not from India, so stop calling us “Indians”.
I think it’s in poor taste to use a race as a mascot. But if you want to honor the Native culture take a note from the FSU Seminoles. Honor a tribe (not a race). Get that tribe’s permission to use their image and ensure that you’re accurately depicting it. Support the tribe for using their image to promote your sports team.
However, even though I may think teams like the Redskins and Indians are in poor taste, I still support their freedom to use those names if they so wish. I don’t feel they should be forced to change anything. However, if protests end up becoming a PR nightmare for them because they refuse to change the names then so be it.
Unfortunately however most Native issues are often largely ignored by the media because our population is so small. It’s better for their ratings if they keep the larger demographics happy. Also, many Natives are extremely desensitized to having their people be ignored and exploited, so many do not even speak up. And it is of my personal opinion that this underlying sense of hopelessness is a large contributing factor to the incredibly high depression and alcoholism rates you see in many tribes.
What’s more pathetic?
A girl making you look like a little bitch or a guy pretending to be a girl making you look like a little bitch?
Oh Rock. So naive. Here’s the skinny on white couples “who adopt black kids.” We’ll use the couple you saw earlier as an example.
Jill (whose girlfriends called her “J-ill” back in the day) used to be a big slut who was down with hip-hop culture and the streets. Homegirl was so down, she even dated brothas exclusively to show everyone how down she was. J-ill got knocked up, found God, and assimilated back into the white culture.
Now her man looks like a clown whenever the 3 of them are together, and he refuses to take the kid (whom he secretly refers to as a “mud person” among friends) anywhere by himself.
Personally, I find it strange when people try to hit the bare minimum when it comes to age. Yea, it’s “legal,” but it says a lot about what’s going on in their minds. If the age of consent was 14, would it be ok for grown men or women to go after them? I think not…
What I’m trying to say is: Legality does not equate to morality. It’s not right just because the law says it’s ok.
Edit: This nigga RockB just said the same shit I ended up saying … I need to get my thoughts out faster.
@RockBogart You seem cool so I’ll tell you this. I hate this damn tablet, and I will turn it into a hat once I get a computer. After I finish that gift for @"Phantom Angel" I will fold you something that I think epitomizes your character.
It’s kinda hard to be truly independent when someone takes all of your good land, murders about 99% of your population, then gives you the crappy leftover land nobody really wants.
