The SRK Blazblue General Discussion Thread

Yeah thats the sucky thing, basically about time this game comes around to console. Hopefully I still care, not to hate or anything and im sure they might add some new stuff. But By the end of next year i’ll be into SF4 and Soul cali 4 hard core. I doubt i’ll be even thinking about trying to learn a brand new game at that point.

Sadly its not much that can be done about it. The game seems really cool after playing it at evo. But seeing as there aren’t any “decent” or “real” arcades that have gotten a new fighter within a couple hundred miles I wont be playing it for at least a year…

well, at least i dont care about sf4, and even when i have sc4 my true passion is play bb so im fucked, i will have to wait until the console port is released, the bad thing is that its sure that when the console port is released they would be working or even releasing a revision making the game obsolete and pointless

Well I’ll just go to your house AksysGames and play :stuck_out_tongue:

NY LOKETEST, INFO. now!!!

Alot of us don’t have arcades to play at, console releases are sometimes all we have to look forward to.

Yeah

Besides I think anyone near an arcade would opt to go to it even if they did have the home version simply because of more competition

Don’t see why the wait is so long, but as long as we get it that’s fine.

I’ll be cool with SC4 and a little Guilty Gear I guess

Well, this is a real issue to be concerned about regarding the releases…

If you make the game non-accessible to the American scene on a console release, you kill the chances for the game to become competitive.

If you make the game instantly available for consoles, Arcades lose all their money.

Unfortunately, I can’t see the game taking off in America due to this. ;-;

44 hits with Arakune does like 10% damage. It probably involved Arakune’s bug which hits like 30 times, and does low damage.

And yes, the invalid combo counter is the same as GG.

Well yeah… but honestly, I support the “help the arcades” movement. Even if that means I have to hold of playing this for 2 years. People want an arcade scene, but seemingly they also don’t want to sacrifice. Make up you mind, guys.

Besides, it’s not like there aren’t any other games to come out in the meantime. Just play those.

Also, on a sidenote: if you get something after a looong wait, the taste is so much sweeter. Embrace the wait :lovin:

blazblue altho a great game is not going to make the arcade scene in the US, so holding off in the US is not going to help the scene here any. The only game that could even being to start to do that would be Sf4 and a new VS game. (TVC) And thats if all arcades and movie theater’s got a machine.

blazblue alone wouldn’t be enough, but all 3 could start something nice. But the chances of the machines being cheap enough and distributed around the us is pretty much nil.

its sad but its true, even when bb could be better than sf4 and tvc (and it is imo), in usa the people is more concerned with the sf and the vs series, it doesnt matter if the games arent the best on the market, the people just like them for traditionalism and so

Oh I see

They mean the port period. Japanese and US

plan on helping the Japanese arcade scene I guess. Which is dying, not dead like in the US

but yeah, will pretty much ruin interest in the game over here in the US

Huh? People will still be interested when this comes out. I’ll take a shot and say KOFXII will also take quite some time to come out.

People in Europe often get games more than 1 year after the US release. Still not killing the interest, just delaying it.

What I have gathered from the latest Arcadia/Tougeki Damashii issues:

Arakune

“Chishiki wo musaboru madou no tankyuusha” (“Knowledge-coveting investigator of the evil ways”)

It moves slowly, but its transforming and teleporting antics make it a tricky character.

The Zero Vector is an air-exclusive projectile that travels at a slow pace in a “special” (unusual?) path/orbit.

P naraba Q is a “feint” move (presumably its teleport), while y, two-dash is a rushing attack.

As you have seen in the videos, the f maru g Distortion Drive is a dive-bomb-style aerial attack that travels straight down, while the f inverse fires a beam directly upwards (TD says it is useful for anti-air and combos).

Bang Shishigami

“Kanki afureru ninja no touryou” (“The ninja leader overflowing with manly spirit”)

As you know by now, his dp+C moves are command throws and the f, b, f+B moves are rushing attacks.

The effect of his throwing nails are determined by the button used:

A = poison (slow life drain)
B = capture (containment - unsure how it works)
C = the nails “bounce” (to what degree I have yet to see)
D = three nails are thrown in a fan formation (this obviously decreases the number of remaining nails by three)

Litchi Faye Ling

Note: My Japanese expertise falls short of the task of properly translating Litchi’s move names, so any help is appreciated.

This move visually resembles Terry Bogard’s Power Geyser. Apparently, it does not come out very quickly, and it is suggested that it might come into its own when used in conjunction with the summoning of the Mantenbou.

Kokushi Musou
qcfx2+D (without the Mantenbou)

Daisharin
qcbx2+D (with the Mantenbou, can be done in the air)

Sangen Kyaku: Haku = Three Origins Kick: White

Pardon the double post, but I thought it prudent to separate gaming info from polemics…

I strongly doubt that releasing a console version of any given fighting game within, say, three to six months of the arcade release, will have that negative an effect on its popularity in the arcades.

For one, arcade cabinets are rare in many countries, and BB will hardly be a priority for most arcades/pool halls/amusement park owners. Expecting players to travel abroad to “support” arcades or even purchase arcade boards is of course preposterous.

Secondly, those with an interest in arcade gaming have been known to keep “supporting” the arcades long after adequate conversions have been released. If anything, a console release could serve to stir up more hype for the game in question.

Seeing as most games are now converted within half a year (slightly longer for KOF XI and Arcana Heart - both of which contain arranged modes - and shorter for KOF '98 UM, Basara X and those IMO hokey Capcom Fighting Evolution and KOF: Maximum Impacts), I simply do not buy the explanation that any title really needs a year or more of arcade-exclusivity to make up for the costs and/or for the programmers to bang together a satisfactory conversion.

Conversion or no - good games get arcade play, worse games do not.

Personally, I detest playing fighting games in the arcade and consider it a phenomenon that belongs in the early-to-mid 90’s, but I respect those who enjoy it. On the other hand, I did not spend 4000 SEK (~$637) on a Japanese PS3 to wait 1.5-2 years for a game that I have already been staring at for an additional year. That WILL kill MY interest - much of it, at least - and I would GLADLY pay two or three times the ordinary price to get my hands on a conversion in, say, early February.

Oh, and Fox - a lot of Europeans have learned that (JP)importing is the way to go unless one relishes the prospect of waiting an extra six to twenty-four months to play a frequently censored and poorly translated game. Those that haven’t, generally do not play semi-obscure 2-D fighting games. This is probably the reason why you rarely see Europeans asking about PAL release dates (or lamenting the lack of Western releases).

Heh, I prolly wont play this if it doesn;t get an arcade release around here somewhere. I just don;t wan’t to spend money on more consoles and shit. Game looked amazing at evo though, little TOO flashy if you ask me.

well said bro

but flashy is the way to be

Too flashy?

They reduced the dark aura on Ragna’s overhead special.

There was no doubt in my mind that BB will be my new main game. I have never been more hyped for a game in my life, and it haven’t been even released yet! Who knew that one piece of information had the power to turn that hype into complete disappointment. Such a huge delay in ps3 port is unacceptable in my eyes, as the “closest” arcade with BB will not even be remotely close.

Postponing the console release to help the arcade is a noble idea, and I sincerely hope that arc system makes as much money possible with this.

Who cares if 1.5-2 year delay in ps3 port will have a negative impact in north america tournies? It’s not like arc system makes money every time we hold a tourny!

Who cares if some of us give up on BB because BB2 will be out for arcade couple of month after the BB ps3 port? It’s not like north america will buy that many copies of bb anyways.

Let’s go support our non-existing local arcades.

ps. I recently bought a ps3 and a sc4. Not because I believe that sc4 is worth the $400 ps3, but because I will be needing a ps3 for BB anyways. I will be returning this next week, thank god for that 30 day full refund.

People should stop calling Bang a generic ninja character. I was laughing my ass off after watching those vids and listening to his voice.

This guy is the Black Star of BlazBlue.
