The SRK Blazblue General Discussion Thread

After Evo, they gon tone her down hella, and whateva else thats super good in the game. Weather it be character or some sort of move.

If its more then 1 frame of lag, Im not touchin online Blazblue.

The issue with Taokaka style characters is that often you can’t tone them down without nerfing them horribly by accident.

Taokaka doesn’t seem to have any projectiles. She doesn’t seem to do much damage compared to the others and she could possibly have a lot of unsafe attacks that we haven’t had time to figure out given the limited playtesting time. If they nerf her unnecessarily now, she could be unfairly stuck as lower tier later on.

As a close range character, she probably has low priority too.

So what you saying Squirrel is that she could be better then Chipp was in all of the GG Installments

She had better be…otherwise I’d be very displeased.

At the moment, Tao is good because unlike many non-projectile speed characters, she has ways to close the gap very quickly, almost like making herself into a projectile, which has the benefit of immediately allowing her to be up close in the opponent’s face afterwards (unlike a typical projectile).

Of course, this can be a double edged sword, because if her rushing attacks are unsafe on block, it also leaves her open for punishment. (unlike a typical projectile).

And her paws really do give her decent range. I think Tao’s biggest problem will end up being poor defensive options, priority or unsafe attacks.

Me buying this game relies solely on Taokaka being a competent character at this stage.

Unless I am mistaken, some screenshots show Taokaka to have a projectile - she tosses what looks like a cat-doll which seems to either travel diagonally upwards or “arc” in the air like some of Faust’s/Lei-Lei’s projectiles. My guess is that it is meant to function as cover for rushing in (like Sean’s basketball et. al.).

taokaka’s projectile is more like lei-lei’s than faust’s, the arc of the item thrown (as well as the item itself,) depends on the button prssed…

214 a gives you a baseball or rock or fishbone, thrown in a straight line

214 b gives you a pillow (possibly a taokakaling, i’m not sure) in a high, far arc

and 214 c has a bowling ball that quickly lands at taokaka’s feet, and slowly rolls foward

she has a LOT of startup for this move, and i often got stuffed while trying to do it, but i assume in the right hands it can be deadly

knockdown, projectile, crossup oki?

or is the startup too much for even that?

i remember when chipp was a top tier in the original gg, i miss that days

I really need to learn how to effectively use an arcade stick… I played so scrubby its funny (Then again I am scrubby).

Thoughts:

Tager: man, is he strong. His potemkin-style buster takes about 50%. He has a similar looking pot hot fist AA that has a vacuum-like property. A fan activates and sucks in the airborne opponent in his grasp. The damage on his super throw is downright demoralizing… Of course, he moves like molasses and is as big as a SUV… have fun chipping away his energy bar people.

  • There were comments on the name “Bang Shishigami.” Many of them negative. I, on the other hand think it fits the character model. A ninja with a gigantic nail? Getting Nailed? Bang = Nailed? Hehe, ah nevermind.

  • From the players I asked, Arkune has a playstyle like Faust.

I should have taken pictures of the badges lined up as markers for their turn to play the game. I like it and can’t wait for the game to come out.

Funny moment was when one of the players used a Crushed Plastic Cup as their turn marker. I said, “What if someone else uses a Crushed Plastic cup too?” He said, “Well, I can crush it a different way or pee on the cup…”

Yes people, Blazblue is seriously that good.

Nice to hear… too bad there’s actually so little new to see at the moment. At least when you are in this thread and not in EVO. :shake:

So how does next gen 2D look? Major improvement over last gen? Fluid? Choppy? Over animated? Under animated? Give me details!

That doesn’t sound really safe to me. I play May in AC and Slash, and it frustrated the hell outta me when someone would get CH on me when I would do Hori Dolph to close the gap while I’m on offence. It didn’t happen to often, but when it did, that netted them hella damage. What I’m sayin is that with that bein that case wit Tao bein the projectile, she doesn’t hold the same properties like GunFlame (Sol) or Stun Edge (Ky). And even if she was to be safe on block, she still would get punished by like DP’s, other projectiles, or over prioritized moves that other characters might hold. Not sayin she weak or thats somethin I want her to be. Juss sayin she probably a very risky character.

Yeah but, Tao is able to shoot herself in mid air so that gives her more movility and ways of escaping.

Sound like Chipp + Jam

So many people are jumping all over Takoka. Where’s the love for the other characters. :frowning:

Anyways, was there any news on Litchie’s (sp?) gameplay style? I haven’t seen much news about her since she was debuting at EVO. Also, any new balancing tweaks on the existing characters since the play test at AX? I’m looking to main Jin since he looks like an interesting character to play and looked like the closest thing to Ky for me. I’m interested in hearing more news about him and if they’ve made any significant tweaks to him.

This sort of reminds me of Sol’s riot stomp. It sends him flying across the screen, but it generally not that safe.

i need some info about bang and lichy

Yes~! YESH!

lolwut

You might have heard of this movie, which predates Soul Eater by like 2 years:

Or, since you think anything with a white mask and a black cloak looks “identical”, you might also remember this movie, which predates Soul Eater by like 7 years:

L O L

I know they are fansubbing the Soul Eater TV show which started airing not too long ago, but that doesn’t mean just because you just found out about it and kind of like it that everything looks like it’s ripped off from there.

You can also rest assured that if you saw it in some anime or manga that it was in turn probably lifted from some other anime or manga, or from Japanese folklore, or whatever.

So if Kaonashi looks more like Arakune than Shinigami-sama, how are Arakune and Shinigami-sama THE SAME CHARACTER ZOMG!? The world will never know.

I guess I should be psyched you didn’t say he looked “just like” Nrvnqsr Chaos just because he has crazy monster things coming out of his body.

Yeah all I’ve heard is shit about her and Rachel

was really hoping to hear more about Bang

and guys, Arukune is a big black blob with a mask.

So it’s not surprising that it looks like other black blobs in masks.

Doesn’t mean it’s based off anything.

Really too much discussion about it

You’re not very good at recognizing humor, are you?

But just for the record, I think the the guy from Soul Eater’s mask looks the closest, as well as his body shape. I really don’t think it was ripped off from anything. Possibly inspired by something in japanese lore, who knows. But also, who cares? Arakune is awesome.
