That’s actually…pretty cool. Or maybe it isn’t. I don’t know, I just like that your post actually tries to discuss the character and not whatever the fuck is happening above.
Decently viable but it feels like an odd and circuitous way to reach the end goal.
We have to remember that holding down the button was part of the “cost” of Juri’s fireballs. It meant you lost access to that button, that holding a store meant you were trading away tools for potential damage. Holding light fuhajin? No throws for you! I like the post above that makes it so that instead of holding the button it just released the fireball on subsequent presses, still removing the normal from her game but also eliminating the finger gymnastics.
All that being said, the reason why I think we might not get holding the fireballs in the traditional sense is because holding a medium ball means no V-Skill, and holding a fierce ball means no V-Trigger, and I don’t know if Capcom would be willing to do that. I’d be super duper okay with it, I always loved holding the fireballs and playing with those times when I had a ball held but didn’t want to throw it so I had to find a safe way of letting go of the button, but I have a feeling that Capcom won’t be so interested in taking away the V-abilities from a Juri who’s storing.
Who knows what they’ll do. I barely played SFA3, but according to what I have read karin’s v-skill used to be a regular special move in SFA3. SFV is doing crazy things to characters.
From the interview on the frontpage
He speaks true. I am glad she was the first from IV.
Yeah, Karin’s moveset is damn near entirely different from A3. In that game, she had counters (and she could do said counters out of her rekka, making it a good bait and punish tool), a command grab, etc.
I think her fireball mechanic is fine. What I want is something different for ex kasatushi (in xT it’s almost useless, and no diagonal counters weren’t that great UNLESS you countered a high recovery move even then it wasn’t worth burning a bar over).
1-2 TC’s with being… -2 to -4 on block at worst. But able to cancel into specials. That or a new stance. Or OR a command gab. I’ve been dying for a command grab for the longest time. I’m also hoping C.fierce returns (it being airborne and high block stun), st. roundhouse, C.mk, C,mp, cr.mk.
St. Roudhouse and cr. Fierce should be her CC’s. L senpusha, both hits hitting crouchers not just one. These are just some.
Sounds like Balrog and Guile will be going under a transformation to make them different.
Unless changing Nash was enough to not change Guile, I dunno.
But by his statements of the characters still in concept and Juri being selected for her popularity (assuming that means design and playstyle)
Juri could either end of up very similar kinda like Karin did or changed up.
I feel like she’s too new to change too much.
I could already see the outrage with guile. Not a damn thing changed. VT is simply on shades. And Ca is SH. It would be hilarious to me. But for guile players…probably anger.
I really am against changing anything on Juri (appearance or personality wise).
Like Karin? You mean lose half her specials, have her signature special relegated to v trigger and gain one new special? Yeah no change there :3
I’m all for change on appearence(with classic being a possible costume) and movesets, but yeah hopefully her personality is only expanded upon not altered
The Palm Strike (her V-Skill) in SFA3 was her rekka ender (with a punch button that is), you could also do it from the get go doing 623+P. Her V-Reversal used to be a counter that was done by qcb+P, her counter was also an option for a follow up during her rekkas.
She got heavily changed in SFV indeed, I think they did some of these changes to decrease the amount of specials she has since pretty much all the characters in SFV have no more than 5 moves if I’m not mistaken, so Juri will be fine most likely.
All in all I agree with what Rayartz said about her not getting too changed… her debut was barely 6 years ago, and as far as changes to gameplay goes she will probably get some tweaks here and there, maybe gain a new move, but not too many changes much because she already adds variety in gameplay to the roster with her moveset. For moveset changes at it’s best, I’d expect those moves she got in Omega to be part of her moveset.
So, is anyone else hoping for a stronger Shikusen? It was always such an odd tool in her toolbox, something that you only pulled out once in a while to remind people she has it and to keep them honest. Either make it slightly safer so you don’t have to aim for the tips of their toes (maybe just lower half to be safe), or make it usable out of a heavy/EX Kasatsushi to punish whatever you countered.
I wonder if they will make normal kasatushi 1f startup this time around. But if it was then what good would the ex version do? And no diagonal counters are not worth it.
