Her gameplay isn’t that different, her costume is awesome (seriously? people are complaining about biker pirate and long hairs?), theme (will give yall), and /everyones/ status in the story was wonked with. Necalli the supposed spotlight of the game was literally shoved to the side as a freaking side plot with no impact or meaning to the story arc. Wtf. Ofc she is going to be less important, its no longer her debut game and they aren’t good at story writing.
If you genuinely believe this you were one of those people that played her completely wrong in 4.

Well according to eventhubs she is #2 in popularity just behind Ryu in SF4 and SFxT and is not a cospiracy is their game they can do whatever they want. About the new effects no one like it but for sure you can get use to it overtime.
Most people like her in SF4 her gameplay was amazing but she was weak to be honest thanks to her frame data but still a viable character but not tournament wise since all her bad match ups are tournament characters.
But as I said it is just my theory i have no idea what is capcom thinking dont take me to serious Im just too salty :’(

^ They have changed her gameplay, costume, theme ,status in the story and even the inputs on the few returning moves she still has ( senpusha ). I would call that fucking with her as much as people are indeed whining ( myself included ).

Her current costume looks good. I just pointed out that they decided to change her old default as well, for some reason, and if i remember out of all her SF 4 costumes from all the DLC ,her default was still the most appreciated by the community.
Her current gameplay is miles different from her old one.
I’ll give you the story part,i suppose the entire story was average at best.
Just take a look at aiai and tell me what this version of Juri is lacking compared to how she moves now? People bring up her missing fireballs, but like. He rarely uses them. The replacements give her more move forward and just as much mix up/punish potential. Her ability to push forward is hindered by a lack of tools, which this version now has. Her insane corner pressure to my knowledge hasn’t been touched. If anything she is /better/ at rushing you down. She lacks a bit of corner carry with her pinwheel, but that got replaced with other moves. So… yeah. How is her gameplay that different?

She is diferent she has no zoner abilities now. But her new gameplay is good imo Im fine with that but the properties in her moves an frame data doesnt make her look good.
And aesthetically my only problem and what bothers me the most in this new Juri is the lack of purple/pink effects tbh generic wind effects would have make more sense instead of white ki effects.

Her new theme sucks. Too shame she getting a dull song this time, specially if compared to her iconic old theme, which was great.
Well that’s somthing we all can agree on.

Are we watching the same video? I just watched the first 3 matches and you can clearly see AiAi using fireballs to zone and to create block pressure. Neither are things SFV Juri can really do.
Anyway I’ll just repost what I said earlier in this thread on why SFV Juri is fundamentally different:
I can’t quite put my finger on it but Juri’s Fuhajin overhaul is a weird one for me. Before her store mechanic was to keep in check how good her fireballs were, but now she uses it to stockpile new specials. For outsiders it looks like it’s just a more convenient change to her button hold mechanic, but it’s a pretty drastic change gameplay wise from turning her from SF4/SFxT Juri into Jam Kuradoberi.
This could be all fine and dandy if her resources were to keep in check anime-game good moves but they’re not, they’re “kinda good but this is SFV and we don’t want anything that could be potentially too good” good. Outside of the fireball Fuhajin, her other Fuhajins don’t grant her any additional utility and just extend combos. Same deal with her V-Trigger. Outside of all that flash, it’s just a combo extending V-trigger and does not open up more options for her like the old FSE did.
Anyway, I could be wrong about my assessment, and I hope I am. But that’s how I see it right now.
The releases go through fireballs…well negate them. Single fireballs.

Notice he mostly zones with her lower fireball though…and which one did they keep for 5? Mostly it’s dashing in, and doing combos that involve the lower fireball, and SFV juri does the exact same if not better. “The other fuhajins just extend combos”…which…is what AiAi does with his Fuhajin…since almost all his combos involve using them…? And he’s extending combos with FSE in the same way that VT does here.
I’m just not seeing it. It looks pretty obvious to me that the new Juri has the same game plan as high level Juri in 4, with the same (or better, since now she doesn’t have to hold buttons and remove those options) moves.
None. Because her new fireball isn’t for zoning.
If by the exact same, you mean none at all. She can’t extend combos with her low fireball in SFV in the same way as SF4.
The old Fuhajins and FSE were more than just combo extenders.

I’m trying really, really hard not to be snarky replying to your post, but you are the example of the “For outsiders it looks like it’s just a more convenient change to her button hold mechanic, but it’s a pretty drastic change gameplay wise” comment I made. If you really, honestly, do not see it, then think about what would happen if Capcom decided Guile now threw sonic booms as a fireball motion, with all that will entail adjustment wise. Then when Guile players are scratching their heads on this change, you’d go and post “What’s wrong? He still has the exact same fireball game, in fact it’s even better now that they’re fireball motion!”
Anyway, I’m probably coming off pretty negative on Juri from this post, and I’m really not. But people claiming she’s in essence the same are being crazy.

@Vinushika
In SF4 her MK and HK fireballs were very ineficient as combo extender but very usefull to zone and her LK fireball was the best in every single aspect you can use it to zone, extend combos, hit comfirms or get you safe.
The diference in SFV is that her LK fireball has lost almost all of its utilities it is only good to make your combos or strings safe now. Its a huge diference in my opinion, if you cant see that is because you never play Juri or at least not right at all.
Lol @ saying some random convention.
It was fucking SDCC. Literally one of the most famous conventions on the planet.
Yea this thread is fucking cancer. Wake me up when the adults start posting in the tech and video threads.
You niggas really started to try and tier her off a fucking pie chart. Go all the fuck away with that bullshit.
I never wanted another fetish! Thanks to Juri I can’t stop inhaling bags of cheese doodles!

Are you fucking kidding? The pie chart stats only just got released and we’ve been estimating Juri’s position in the tier lists from playing her in story, watching high level play and gameplay discussions from all sorts of forums (with some lucky players actually PLAYING her online/training mode testing frame data and shit). Please quote someone in this thread saying "she’s DEFINITELY low/medium/high tier.
Read more carefully ‘nigga’.

It’s why I plan to stop coming here once she drops. I’ll find my own stuff. As I always have.
He don’t got a 3 frame CROUCH LK doe. I think she’s the only character with a 3 frame low hitting light. Besides most people here like to pick mid tiers any ways. They’re more fun than those nasty top tiers.
