I like amy a lot more I must admit. Knuckles just looks plain retarded. I don’t really care if they make anyone look different since I don’t particularly attach myself to anyone in sonic too much in terms of aesthetics, but knuckles man. . .

That cutscene was ok (in the sense of the writing) but it was so formulaic it hurt.

I cannot believe they managed to dumb down every character to the point where all that remains is an arch-type.

I mean, there are no real substantial anything that really states the character’s relationships with each other. I’d like it if Amy’s infatuation with Sonic was dialed back a bit, like in the comics.

This game is taking those characterizations and over-doing it imo. I’ve always recognized Sonic as a bit cocky, but have never been as annoyed by it as I am after listening to just a few minutes of these gameplay teasers.

Edit: Or maybe they’re just given too many lines, so it’s harder to ignore and/or let it slide.

Yeah, Sonic’s always been a smartass, but Tails always seemed more like he was helping Sonic. this Tails seems less independent in comparison to, say, SA2, where he was wrecking shit without regard.
And Knuckles, while never being the smartest of the bunch, at least always had common fucking sense. This one barely has motor function, it seems.

Sonic and Tails are like that in the main series. It’s been that way since Adventure.

We don’t know the full extent of Amy’s characterization for this game so we should hold off on that. It’s definitely an improvement over main series Amy as someone remembered there’s more to her character than her crush on Sonic.

He’s never been a jerk. He was flawed, he wasn’t always sensitive especially when he was agitated but he wasn’t a straight “rolling my eyes cuz im a cool guy” guy.

Tails wasn’t a henchman, he was like a little brother.

Sonic always been a dick to Knuckles. It isn’t uncommon for Sonic to antagonize the guy when they meet. I won’t even start with his treatment of Amy.

Tails acting the same as always as Sonic’s tech guy and support. Nothing changed as far as that goes.
