The Shinobi Secrets: Ibuki Video Thread

LOL this is OLD news… still to see it in a combo in a match… SAKOOOOO!

you can cancel the first 3 frames of ibukis command dash (any strength) into any special OR ultra. it looked like it might have a bit more leeway as far as frames are concerned, but maybe my eyes are tricking me.

the command for CD>raida is:

23663214>kick~punch

… oh shit, sushi beat me to it… still, yeah its known, i tried to find good uses for it but could never find any, i even pm’d trag to see if he could find anything good and he was stumped as well. cool to do in training mode, super easy to do CD>breaker CD>u1 isnt that hard either, but there is absolutely no use for them, even in that sako combo a regular raida would have worked, sako was just having fun/showing off to the ibuki masses.

-dime

Showing off? lol only Ibuki mainers could have noticed something like that.

^ he said to the ibuki masses lol.

Just a few matches that I played today. Will post more later, but for now let me know what you think.

Ibuki (Token686) vs Yang: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeHwgzveV34

Ibuki (Token686) vs Cody: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzhjpjRTnyw

More matches, the rest of these are Ibuki (me) vs a Cody

Why are you so afraid to use Back MP? Why don’t you ever go for Swipe Kick loops?

I also noticed you just throw out crouching MP into nothing when you’re out of range a lot, then buffer in neckbreaker when he was clearly in range (last fight I think), and you got punished for it.

I hope you aren’t doing jab, jab, jab, knee -> super jump onto the other side on purpose.

How many times did you need to see standing jab miss after your crossed up with command dash before you did ST.MK right after CR.LP. That link is like a million frames in AE, time to grow some balls.

I love this post!!!

can anyone give me any advice or tips? i won in the end but the match up is a pain in the ass for me 0.0

(i know i dropped jab jab st mk a lot but that was because the tv’s are really laggy :s)

skip to 1:55 to avoid button check 0.0

well aside from the obvious like dropped combos and block strings. I really think you need to get acquainted with your normals better and be confident in you spacing. Really all you did was turtle the Ken player by running away with jump back kunai and back dashes. Had he option selected your back dash with ultra2 instead of sweep you would’ov easily lost.

Some advice-

Use ex kazegiri more sparingly and not in wake up situations, good players will punish you for 40% of your life. I like to use as a solid anti-air where agamen wouldn’t win or sometimes when I really want catch people crouch teching.

Go for grabs and frame traps more (this goes hand and hand with reading your opponent)

Don’t be predictable with your back dashes

Get more comfortable with your character so that you can apply some offence

Alright, so I got my tournament matches finally uploaded. Please bare with my Ibuki doing really bad options, I know I was pretty nervous in the first match, but I’m looking for more options or things I could have done; plus costructive critism. Ex: What I did right/get the right idea at, and what I failed miserbly at, or flaws seen with the other player.

*Note: the second match had the names mixed up.

1st match [RedCaliburn] vs Blanka [LapChi]: 0:20 (1st round stunned so quick and perfected… =/ )
2nd match Ibuki [RedCaliburn] vs Blanka [LapChi]: 27:00

Thoughts during the matches overall: I felt pretty nervous as you can tell, and getting a knockdown was top priority when I was against his Blanka. I haven’t played many top blanka players or even offline at all, so all I could do was take the notes from experiece like; blanka ball is in my favor if blocked, mix-ups during wake-up, etc. But what I was lacking was information like; what on earth can I punish with if he does forward cr.hp, can I or can I not? If so, what options? Ok he spams lightning, can I punish with what; is there a safe distance to punish or no? I was trying to think how I can get in without risking too much, and bait things out. I had to do safe jumps because I know that he could get out of the vortex but I was testing it on him if he knew or not. I like to explain more, but I let you guys be the judge.

u got thrown out of your FA attack like million times, especially last round, when you ate 2 throws out of FA in 10 seconds.
dude loved spamming throw it looks like
he thrown you 12 times total
10 successfully
2 you teched him
you performed only 2 successful throws on him.

basicly he just rushed you down and you didnt know what to do because, like you said, you didnt know match up well.
victory loves preparation. so learn, learn and learn

  1. Blanka slide is -11 on block. Though if he does it at max range, it’s a little less. Nonetheless, your go-to punish should be f+LK into combo.

  2. It wasn’t so much that he was spamming lightning defensively (which is punishable) but that he did hop trickery into a light attack, cancelled into lightning, offensively, which is not punishable because a blocked lightning leaves him at positive frames. Just take the chip and prepare for his next move, or backdash.

  3. It wasn’t so much trying to get in but trying to keep Blanka out. This Blanka player basically ignored charge and straight tried to rush you down. If you notice that Blanka refuses to hold down back or charge, then prepare your zoning normals. cr.MP, st.MK, cr.MK, etc. Like at 0:33 there’s no reason Blanka should have been able to blatantly walk up, hop in your face, and get a free throw.

  4. Neutral jump hp kunai is not a good idea against super. Just block and punish with neckbreaker/U2/etc. At the very least you should have done lp kunai so you’d hit him with it, not whiff a kunai so he can punish your landing.

  5. Whiffed Blanka balls are easy neckbreaker punish.

There’s a lot of unfortunate things that you couldn’t do anything about, like whiffed nj.MK and then getting punished, or whiffing cr.LP cr.LP due to spacing and letting the rushdown happy Blanka get a free jumpin. All I can really say is just increase your blocking skills and get more experience dealing with rushdown type players.

I found this recently:

Is this glitch even practical? I don’t seem to understand how this is done, it’s confusing me. Although I think I remember seeing this glitch happen somehow before in super, but it was extremly rare, and difficult to do.

^ that’s like week 1 stuff or something. It has to do with your opponent’s hitbox and the specific timing of the st.HK in the cr.HK xx st.HK part of the target combo. I think the easiest to it on is Abel, followed by Boxer, but I haven’t played around with it much.

If you can master the timing for it, I’d say it’s definitely practical, especially since it can net you a free jumpin combo, and on large characters this also means a huge tsumuji loop combo.

Lastly, I’m assuming that guy does not play Ibuki, because I’m pretty sure you can finish off Akuma after the reset with j.HP , cr.HP xx SJC U2, instead of TC4 xx SJC U2.

I thought you guide said 3000PP GUARANTEED!?

This is from a while ago, if you look at the date… it was sent to WA about a month after it the fight too, haha. Haven’t been playing AE much =( too busy, maybe like 50 console games and 50 arcade games since release. Besides, it’s a joke you know that!

ClakeyD vs Justin Wong, Alex Valle - 1:05:50

Either Clakey plays Valle too much or he slides too damn much, or both. Notice the whiffed cr.HP’s by Valle. Also it seems Clakey doesn’t know that Ryu’s cr.HK is punishable with U2.

More Clakey vs ? - 48:50

Hello, Ibuki subforum. Here’s a local player from last week in a casual team battle… beat a bunch of people because they weren’t familiar with the matchup lol. Sorry for the quality/loud sound.
