The SFV Lounge: SRK is ALIVE. AE Hype is BACK! DISCORD going the way of DISCO

Chun IMO didn’t get enough.

Juri has more opportunity to gain stores through counter-hit scenarios(Target combo confirms) and she gets those often, she gets two VT1’s per round to allow her to pressure without having to backdash and store constantly. She’s also getting MUCH more damage from stores.

If these changes aren’t enough for Juri players to collectively make her work you’ll all wanna change character because aside from just removing her store mechanic you’ve got ample opportunity to make the mechanic work now.

, Twinblades said, staring down his own reflection in the mirror before looking away in disgust. For nearly two years, the man felt he was at an impasse. In that time, Twin battled two demons – Kolin, the one who let him cruise on through the rankings by abusing online shenanigans and flimsy netcode coupled with v-skill spam and Cammy, a character with solid fundamentals which should’ve taught Twin how to properly play but alas, he could not. Somehow.

It wouldn’t matter. The season 3 patchnotes comfirmed his worst fears. Twin would have to play neutral without gimmicks. No v-skill, no jumping heavy kick, no easy-ass setups from low risk jabs.

What should he do? Heck, what would any sane individual do when put into the same predicament as him? Twin looked back at the mirror, his eyes starting to water. He felt himself slipping on the verge of tears but had enough strength and some dignity left to fight back the need to weep. This is what it all boils down to?

Would Twin throw caution to the wind and play Sakura? No. She wasn’t blonde.

Wait, someone else is blonde. Blonde and as well as grade A waifu material even though she literally appeared in a still image in some twink’s story mode and for a few seconds in the Arcade Edition trailer. Twin felt a great weight lift off his shoulders, although this relief was running on borrowed time. Would Falke, some random stick-weilding emo bitch be the one he was looking for? Twin didn’t know and didn’t care.

He was running on a prayer. A few months from now, he will have his answer. For the better or worse.

W-what do you mean? He totally needs to needs more buffs, yep.

Maybe if I downplay enough I’ll get MORE BUFFS.

One 4f light. The rest are 5f. No invincible or even throw invincible moves (without using exploit); only f1 armored move is in trigger and requires meter. Maybe on paper it sounds manageable, but get knocked down by Akuma online and see how that goes.

EX run gets armor on frame 3 so he can’t run through 2 frame gaps.

St.lp is massively overrated as an anti air. Works great for far ranges but will definitely not cover everything you need it to. Cr.hp is slow as shit.

If you’re dealing with a run happy Abigail just wait till he’s close and neutral jump. Everything will miss.

I agree st.hp ain’t right though

Then don’t say you don’t like the direction, say you don’t like the changes.
Chun’s changes are not too good but are in a good direction, they just too mild to be truly impactful.
Juri’s changes basically tell us to play more unga, she’s definitively buffed, but in a direction that I frankly despise, we all were asking for changes that promoted better play, not simpler.

I wouldn’t call it Unga, what are you doing with Juri that’s unga in relation to season 2?

You now have a valid counter hit confirm, in season 2 st.mp > cr.mp as a counter-hit confirm did less than her standard st.mp > st.mk route, so it was useless as a CH confirm unless you were going storeless. You now have target combo and it’ll be a damn tight confirm to make as well because chances are it’ll be jab only unless they’re changing st.mp’s counter-hit pushback(that would make this change insane).

You get VT1 more often, is VT1 unga? I’m pretty sure the Juri collective wanted better pressure, you aren’t thoughtlessly throwing out normals, or at least I don’t cause that’d be stupid. You have to confirm your normal cancels, use your normal cancel blockstrings to safe space VT LK.release, and you have to manage your VT bar to make the most of it.

I don’t see unga in her design, unga would be thoughtlessly throwing moves out that gives high reward, which see already had in EX.flipkick, flipkick xx VTC and cr.mk xx EX.Fuha. Those moves are unga, not this.

With these change notes I think the fact that so many incur subtle hit/hurtbox manipulations as key ‘change’ details, infers our foray into Season 3 is going to be heavily based on feel and paying close attention to many new subtle interactions for a good while.

While frame data changes (+/-, on hit/block, etc) are certainly in the mix also, I find the amount of hit/hurtbox alteration mentions to be quite surprising. It’s amazing what a hit/hurtbox being shifted a few pixels can do to the feel of a normal or special - for good or ill.

These pushback changes seem to be doled out liberally too - an interesting decision given SFV’s stubby normal trend in general.

They probably don’t want cammy/Karin running their tick grab sceanario in the corner if everybody is getting the loop nerfed.

No. This thread title is the best we’ve had in years.

For those who lost their waifu after the patch notes…
grabs a can of Wonda Coffee to the bros
Stay strong bros, stay strong!

It’d probably end up like SFIV’s rival fights in story mode where half the cast fought either Chun-Li or Ryu. We already complain enough about who gets all the DLC costume, now imagine that on top of Chun-Li having half of all the special intros because of waifu worship or Ryu because hes “so iconic”.

Everyone change your avatar when AE era starts, please.

Special intros are cool. Blazblue has some sick ones, Guilty Gear used to have them too.

Even the watered down stuff we have in Xrd is cooler than the same stuff everytime.

But I like my avatar.

you spam brainless TC now since it can still be canceled into a store on block.
And the changes to VT to me say “press all of the normals and hope people press something at the wrong moment” twice per round.

Ugh… Fine. I will even try to bother with make up for that avatar then.

I totally understand in an indirect way how certain players have an affinity for waifus. I gravitate towards villains, and when they are charge characters I hit the jackpot as it is the perfect marriage between character and gameplay.

This is why I like Decapre, and the dolls, as they were the bastard children of my type in fighters and @TWINBLADES ‘s .And what beautiful children they are.

It is a proven fact that Zangief is the best waifu.

In AE when using Akuma’s VT1 I think I’m going to stop using two VT specials during a VT cancel combo. With the extra scaling the extra damage doesn’t seem worth it anymore. I think saving the meter for pressuring or to mix up with is probably a better idea.

Doing the math it just doesn’t seem worth it unless your opponent is close to death. I imagine other characters with a VT that are similar to Akuma’s in this way may also start doing the same thing.

TC xx store on block leaves you -2 point blank regardless of where you hit the st.mp, the follow-up HK moves Juri forward so if you want to make yourself point blank with them at +2 feel free, it’s essentially a throw mix-up for the opponent at that point. As a block tool I don’t think TC is good at all, but as a counter-hit confirm tool it seems incredible now that it’ll be consistent. And shimmying, but it was already great for that.

If a player uses her VT in a way that you just press buttons, don’t try to manage each individual blockstring option or confirm the hits, that player was using her VT like an unga tool from the beginning. Each hit and route matters, conservation of VT meter and maximization of hits is essential for her VT to be scary. I can keep someone locked down in the corner for about 10 seconds but that isn’t possible without me managing VT timer effectively, or I’d burn it within 4 seconds. There’s a lot of decision making to be had in what you do/don’t cancel, which stores you expend and what cancel routes you ultimately take. And with moves taking more meter now, I’d say that VT1 only got harder to use in that aspect.
