I picked Menat for you since I know you like space control and she has buttons like orb s.MP that are pretty much auto pilot space control. Outside of the fact that her VT1 requires execution and her orb is essentially a resource, she basically fits the whole controlling the screen thing that you like to do.
I would say Juri if you had listed her, but Juri requires too much APM and lab work to get her optimized oki and damage work. At least in Season 3 sheāll have target combo to fish for damage easier without stores.
It looks like they had infinite meter on. Iāve seen Juriās VT2 by people with early copies of AE. If she has VT2 active. Her opponent really canāt build meter. As they gain it, it goes right to her bar.

Yeah infinite meter is on which skews things.
If I have to think about a matchup Iād probably use Juriās VT2 in, Gief would probably be one of them. He can just lariat through VT fireballs and she gets less fireballs now so that kinda forces the issue of not bothering with VT1. Juri can already lame out Gief pretty well and can store/charge v skill pretty easily vs him without much of a challenge. Gief usually wants to sit on meter unless heās in EX grab range so VT2 forces the issue of taking that away from him so its easier to move in and pressure him. If he tries to rush you down he has to be careful about you landing a hit and then suddenly start burning away his EX meter with your pressure. VT2 forces him into a mind game where he wonāt wanna go in because he can risk having his meter stolen, but he canāt stay back all day because Gief is not a threat from far range.
Itās kind of an ideal matchup to use VT2 in because Juri doesnāt really need the meter heās stealing from him, but he sorely needs the meter she is stealing from him for damage and oki. Most of what Juri needs to bully Gief requires no EX meter and you can just whore it to extend damage vs him. A Gief that can very rarely gain access to super loses a lot of his scare factor especially with his VT1 in consideration.
For most of the other cast though, VT1 is the way to go. The buffed dash in VT1 being way more accessible with a 2 bar trigger is a big deal for a lot of matchups. Means she can instantly bully the neutral on activation especially if she has LK fireball or V Skill charged. Thereās quite a few characters where if she has V Skill charged and has VT1 active, they pretty much have to let her get in.
iāve noticed it as well. since Capcom is finally getting their shit together, i hope they will go back and improve animations in the upcoming seasons.
Thereās a few tricks you can employ also depending the character . Half circle back x 2 then forward punch still gives you a CA like HNIC Mike mentioned a few weeks ago. This means you only need to get good at doing it one way. Although I think thatās easier for just raw punishes.
2 X QCF then button then punch will give you a cancel on hit and nothing on whiff. For example if you are Ryu or Akuma, doing 2 X QCF cr.mk plus punch will whiff the cr.mk (no super) but if it hits the super will come out. Beware though it will also come out if they block it.
Finally if you have a move with long hit stun, you can stack up the motions before itās time for them to come out.
Example Ryus solar plexus once you see it hit ( in other words you donāt need to wait for the solar plexus to finish) input the DP, then input the super. You will be working ahead of whatās actually happening on screen but the sequence will still work because of the delay.
I uhhā¦I have an idea, ideas even, for Juriās VT-II. I know VT-I is the superior choice, but I going to try and make this work. Gotta make sure I leave my Juri homies with a little something while Iām off being a Menat player.
Donātcha mean the real juri?
Thanks @Highlandfireball! A few tidbits in there I didnāt know.
Itās just natural, your wrist can pull better than it can push. Ask lordwilliam.

So basically they have addressed CH pushback. Wonder if that means Chun finally has a tick throwā¦
Well his VT2 is 2 bars. MAAAAAAAYBE there is some use? Like getting 2 or 3 V-Trigger uses per round (Iām theory fighting like a mofo)?
anyone want to play
practicing zeku
Imo they did a really good job with these VT2s, but obviously need more time to explore. I think for some chars it will really come down to preference like do you like getting your vtrigger sooner with 2 bars(possibility of 2 per round)? Or do you like having a bigger comeback factor with 3-bar? Then some chars will have matchup specific choices(Ryu comes to mind). Then there will probably be some clear cut ones that are way better. For example I donāt see Nash or Sim using VT1 ever again.
Atm Iām all in on Ibukiās VT2. She still has plenty of VT1 setups, but since they removed the braindead 50/50s, I rather having something more consistent⦠a weaker braindead 50/50
old zeku walkspeed is too slow to be a zoner
Interesting , I thought they fixed the ch pushback, but I thought the tick throws would get worse.

A lot of it is baiting people to jump at you and dp them. Then switch to young dude. Old mans koku is only really to entice people to jump⦠or keep gief out.
Until some wonder player comes around and starts to really zone with koku⦠but I havenāt seen it yet. OZ is the shitstorm you have to pass through to get to the young guy. It actually works out pretty good:
Young guy has troubles on defense so prolonged neutral can be bad for him sometimes if he comes out and has to deal with his bad wakeup.
OZ has a reversal though so he can deal with wakeup better. Play neutral with old guy till you get a koku knockdown or dp, then go in with zeku. If they are super defensive and want to stay out of OZ range, just switch to young dude and make them guess against your random slide/runstop. If either is successful you are in and can dominate.
Thatās what Iāve been doing at least and what Iāve seen most of the better Zekus doing. Switching to young guy against a neutral aggressive opponent is a mistake without a setup. Staying in old stance all the time is also a mistake because you canāt capitalise on aggression the way the young guy can.

Bottom of my heart, thank you guys for watching. Itās been a rocky couple of months for the local scene and things are kinda going back in gear. Had a really uneven day where just a few minutes before the stream I had finished talking to a very close friend of mine had a really fucking bad family tragedy. Up until a few moments I actually didnāt know if i was going to end running the tournament, much less playing in it (Iād already worked it out so I had back up TOs). So I went from dealing with some really heavy shit and wanting to leave to making the best of it due to weird circumstances.
My entire seen was laughing their asses off at you clowns and wondering why the fuck you guys were going so hard in on me. Dudes were scrolling through their cellphones just to read the twitch chat.
Guy I lost to is basically the best player in the area. 19 year old kid who plays in a silly fearless way. If he was in a bigger city, youād all known about his rashid by now. Now you know his fang so thatās good stuff. We gotta sort out the commentating. Its basically the first time commentating for a lot of us and the styles are a bit all over the place. Eventually we gotta figure out who did well, who did bad and build up the commentary for future stuff. Any feedback you guys have that you could @ me for I would greatly appreciate.
So I hope you guys had fun watching some of our better players do their thing; we have a few solid guys, some really good guys and stuff in between. Hopefully the commentary wasnāt so bad but it takes time to get good at discussing matches on the fly. If you have a local scene that youāre trying to kickstart, this is the best way to foster that talent. Gotta let them scrub it out until they get their legs with the mic.
All in all, thank you guys for watching. Its a little bit but that much, like I said before, meant a lot to my guys and to me too. GGs and please hit us up with some feedback, nitpicks etc. Anything to make it nicer for you guys makes it nice for us too.
