I’m considering picking up the collection for Galaxy.
It ain’t Galaxy 2, but that’s the only 3D Mario I really played.
It’s kinda funny to think about how 32GBs is nothing nowadays. I have nowhere near enough space to install all the games I want. (Mostly because I got both Pokémon Sword and Shield to test out my mods.)

Mario 64 takes some getting used to, but it’s a good ass game. Sunshine is sorta divisive, but one of my favorite gamecube games, so I’d give it a big recommend.
Plus you got that switch, you gotta pick up Odyssey. That game is one of the best things I’ve played on the switch. I’d honestly recommend you get that first if 3D all-stars wasn’t on this “limited run” bullshit

I think Oddysey might be the worst mainline 3D Mario I’ve played. It’s still definitely worth picking up, and I had fun with it, but it’s pretty overrated imo. I liked everything in the 3D All-stars package more.
Super Mario 64 still holds up well today. The Switch version is a bit janky on the controls when I’m playing, but that might be my joycons being weird. Level design is excellent, the movement is fun, and being the grandfather of all 3D platform games ever (and pioneering a lot of the techniques used in 3D games of any genre since then), it’s still cool to see just how well they nailed everything on the first try.
Mario Sunshine is still has the most fun movement in any Mario game imo. A lot of people don’t like FLUDD or the water physics, and the theming of the stages is definitely far less varied than other Mario games, but it’s still one of my favorites. Sliding around at lightning speeds and then chaining that together with other movement techniques to keep momentum just never gets old for me.
Galaxy just rocks in general. Great variety in levels and tasks, fun physics, interesting level design, loads of cool ideas. Most of the bad stuff about the game is tied to Nintendo trying to force in the Wiimote-gimmicks, but that’s mostly not related to core gameplay.

I still think it’s a good game. Just not a great game. Can’t quite put the finger on why either.

The version they are emulating for 64 is the Shinsou version. Which along with not having the BLJ glitch, also never having the ‘So long Bowser’ line.
So it’s not really getting rid of it, just using a different version of the game.
Word. It’s pacing is really fast and it has a lot of “do this cool thing once” stuff that after you get over being a dinosaur, gets trite pretty quick.
But I needed something quick and jam packed with junk after BoTW’s vast, slower paced setting.

It fell under the many reasons of why 3D All Stars is a rip-off and why you shouldn’t buy it. There are valid reasons but some of the shit I’ve seen is stupid.

The whole false scarcity issue is definitely a good reason not to buy. I’ve only played 64 yet, and the controls did feel slightly off compared to the N64/Wii VC versions.
I’ve got a bad case of “this came out on my birthday and I love these three games so whatever” on this though.

Yeah, it being limited for both physical and digital is weird and definitely a problem. I assume they are going to release them separately after March passes.
But whatever is right. I’m just glad I can play three solid games away from home.

What’s this about Gay Bowser? Lol. I read something about that on Twitter, but I don’t remember Bowser doing anything gay in SM64.
And yeah, the controls do look a bit clunkier than I remember. Though, I even felt Odyssey’s controls were a bit clunky too.
And yeah, with Doom, I’m trying to work my way up to beating it on Ultra Nightmare, which is a bit of a crazy goal for me, but I love the idea of doing it… That won’t stop me from playing ST or 3S or whatever else for a few hours a week though.

Yeah, I’m kinda there with you. I’ve beaten a few worlds in Odyssey (I made it to the city stage) and yeah, it’s a nice game, but I don’t love it. Then again, it may just be me with 3D Mario games. I loved 64 and beat it a few times back on N64 but I haven’t loved many since. I really liked Sunshine too but I never bothered to beat it.
Odyssey does seem like it could be fun to try and speedrun though, but I don’t need anymore tasks like that in my life right now
So apparently two guys I went to high school with just got arrested in one of the biggest drug busts in my state’s history.
Really weird seeing where people you graduated with end up. In this case it’s really sad.
Last time I heard about someone from my school in the news it was about a teacher trying to solicit sex from a minor. We all thought he was just in the closet.
