how important is double tapping? is there some kind of tutorial or trick to doing this? i cannot seem to get the hang of it.
Trick is practice, and yes it will help you out a bit!
the thing is, i use all 5 of my fingers to press different buttons when doing combos (actually i don’t think i use my pinky). for example when i do balrog’s c.lp, c.lp, c.lk, hp headbutt, i press the c.lp’s with my index finger, c.lk with my thumb, and the hp with my ring finger. i can execute this combo about 90% of the time. if i were to use the double tap method, would i have to press all the button with my middle and index finger?
You really could do it however you feel comfortable TBH. It’s strange, when it comes to things like this it really depends on each person, I’ve seen some crazy stuff work for people that I’ve never been able to replicate.
I watched a replay of a Championship match today and the winner went for throws using lp, lk and mk. It didn’t seem to be accidental input either because he did it for every throw he went for. Was there any reason for that?
Was he playing as ken? If so f.MK~LP+LK is his kara throw.
D’oh! Yeah he was. I totally forgot about that. Cheers.
How to open up a match/round…
What move does everyone open up with to start a round?
Projectile?
Focus Attack?
Jump-in?
Just looking for some input.
How can I get arounnd Zangief command throw? every time I jump in to hit him he all ways get me with that same move:annoy:.
With Zangief you should get about as close to him as you would in real life.
I have a dumb beginner question, a block string is a combo which will leave a person in block stun the entire time you’re doing it right?
I’m curious as to what double tapping is. It’s name implies it’s just hitting the input twice for a link? Or is it something different? I wasn’t able to find it on Eventhubs or in the guides in te Original post, so I figured I’d ask.
Correct.
Yeah that’s it. It just gives you twice the chance of hitting the link timing. Plinking is another alternative, there’s a stickied thread about that in the main SF4 forum.
Depends on what character you use and who your up against.
But usually you should just try to mix it up. Use something safe… And somtime I just do nothing at all and react to what is done.
It means hitting with a move that puts enough hit stun on an opponent before using a damaging combo.
Like for Chun Li, if you just use her Ultra at any time, it will most likely be blocked. But if you were to hit confirm by landing her Target Combo, you’d know that using the Ultra would not be in vain as it will connect
For shotos, you’ll see them using crouching punch a lot. Once it finally isnt blocked, then they will crouching medium kick into hadouken. In other words, once the punches were hit confirmed, they whipped out the combo
Online Traning Ground
Who else like me sometimes just wants to spar against other players rather than just beat up a dummy or a comp controlled character…I propose Capcom release an online traning ground where you can meet up with people and just spar and practice…
Isn’t that what player matches are?

Has an awesome, “button lighting” video as well.

I just want to become a premium member to neg everybody since I have a guy following me to every post and negging me for it. This post will be negged at least 4 times as well.
Anyways, anybody see any replays of Grade S players yet?
I have a couple noob questions:
-
How do I do a fast wakeup after being knocked down
-
What is a hit confirm. I kinda know what it is, but I need clarification.
Thanks
