I even think Chun-Li is a bad match up for him. She out pokes him and can close distance well enough. Plus her VT makes her hard to deal with as Ryu outside of EX DP.
Sheās a bit susceptible to fireballs/zoning which is why I think itās ok. Sheās not as scary as S1.

Lolā¦ Itās funny they say Alex is bottom tier because heās one of my absolute worst matchups. I think itās because of his far reaching pokes. But I also am probably not punishing things of his that I could, like stomp.
If I had to guess Iād say itās close enough though to go either way depending on whoās more skilled. Maybe a slight edge to Alex though.

Anyone have tips for the Zangief matchup?
Fireball feels useless vs the headbutt and lariat, especially the damn frame 1 projectile invincible lariat. Yet fireball feels like the only viable poke in the matchup. What else should I be using?
Is there any reliable way to hold the whiffed headbutt accountable?
Can you always punish lariat on block with forward fierce or is it spacing dependent? Should I just go for a sweep? My stand roundhouse doesnāt combo into stand short at further ranges on his lariat, and I rarely block it right up close.
His v-trigger 1 is really rough for me. I feel absolutely useless once itās activated, but thatās probably just because Iām relying too much on fireball in the neutral.
Iām having a ton of difficulty with Dhalsim too, if anyone has any tips there as well.
I think my biggest weakness is predictable block strings and not having good pressure once Iām inside to make it count. I feel like I can play neutral well enough but once I get inside Iām not getting enough out of my offense. If anyone has tips on block strings they use a lot itād also be appreciated.
Zangief has been some of my best match upsā¦donāt over think it. Use fireballs as annoyance. Change up your timing and fake out your opponentā¦(sometimes iāll do fireballā¦into fireball motion with throw as a low budget fake against gief) get to know the range of two moves. Standing round houseā¦(as an anti air well timedā¦crush counter everytime and can really annoy the hell outta your opponent)ā¦and jumping hp (neutral jumpā¦you should never jump on gief really UNLESSā¦) when gief has vt1ā¦thatās when my fishing startsā¦you see most giefs are flinching so they can blow through fireball on reactionā¦but if you can fake em out just a lil out of sweep rangeā¦you can jump on giefs vt1 activation without fear of the suctionā¦jumping hp is your best friend. When gief gets meterā¦the respect comesā¦but i like to fuck with a giefs mind when I know he wants that spd badlyā¦if you see gief whiffing big recovery moves like standing hpā¦dash up and throw emā¦during recovery then back out and read how he reacts. At lot of the giefs in platinum like to spam cr. Lp like its a damn win buttonā¦but you can stuff it with st. Mp when your just out of range just to again annoy the shit out of themā¦with season 3ā¦ive been slowly implementing vt 2 and donkey a bitā¦on giefs st. Hpā¦when he seems out of range for whiff punishā¦donkey kick lk has been hilariously great for meā¦even on cr. Lp whiffs I get trades! And poor giefs back where we started because of knock back. And some of giefs moves are so visually reactive to that I just activate vt2 and parry punish in between stuff. Lol next time you see a larietā¦activate vt2 and dash up into super parryā¦lol shenanigans i knowā¦i know. In summaryā¦just annoy the shit out of gief and you win!

Any Ryu players have tips against G? His V-Skill absorbs fireballs, his normals are all pretty long range, and he has a command grab. I have no idea what to do against this character, lol.

Block string c.mp, s.mp ,st. lk for some reasons always catches pixies and overconfident pokers off guard for some reason itās like people get so disrespected when they see a block string from ryu

V skill 2 isā¦utter trash on a majority of the cast especially anyone with a strong projectile Gameā¦however I like its usage against slow pokes from ā¦Gillā¦Urienā¦and surprisinglyā¦BISON! Itās like they cannot help itā¦fucks with their mind in some ways. Lol I started trolling using this as a AA and the results have been surprisingly hilarious
