Suppose I could have made it more clear than it already being obvious since the game in so new that I was talking about “as of right now” in regards to his combo potential. And I agree, if his damage output was any higher he’d be borderline broken. But, then again, the game is still so new – let’s just wait before was start issuing the nerfstick.
Not new tech.
oki is the best term to describe the situation for the standing playing when the other is knocked down. wakeup/knockdown can refer to both.
besides its been a standard term for ages.
Thank you Fulaani. It’s all relative either way.
good example of why i don’t use forums
I dont get it
Is it because he said that what you discovered by yourself was already discovered by everyone ?
I think he means the fact that I used sarcasm after he called me naive for stating something that was true? Also, maybe because he didn’t discover “new tech” for a game that wasn’t even technically released yet, but still wasn’t even “new tech”?
b/c i got burned for posting some day one shit on day one. i went through every post and didn’t see anything about that, and i bet it helped someone. should be promoting the sharing of information instead of hindering it. forumers gonna forum, pz.
So Ive been messing with a few characters plus Rolento and I figure I’ll just give some random damage numbers here mostly this is just what Ive found for post tag combos after patriot circles
For starters most damage Ive been able to get midscreen off cr.mk is
cr.mk xx patriot circle ~ super - does like 404
Rolento + Marduk
1 meter - cr.mk xx patriot circles (on last rekka) mp+mk, (Marduk Comes in) j.hk, st.mp, cr.mp xx hp gator slam Damage is around 368
2 meter - or for the same combo after you do j.hk hcb+kk, st.mp, d+hp xx hp gator slam does 398
Rolento + Kuma
1 meter - Cr.mk xx patriot circle (as soon as the second one hits) mp+mk (Kuma comes in) f+lp,mp,hp xx hcf+hp, hp, cr.hp, hcf+hp,hp Damage is 389 I think…
2 meter - cr.mk xx patriot circle (on last rekka) mp+mk (Kuma comes in) d+kkk, f+hp, qcb+kk, b+hp,hp,hp Damgeis around the same as Marduks I belive.
Ive tried Rolento + Bob but I haven’t found anything really interesting maybe someone else will find something useful.
Also after a launcher I think Rolento’s best option is st.hk, cr.mk -> cr.hk. you could do two st.hks in the corner I believe. Not the best but its something. Of cours you can always do super instead of the cr.hk.
Basically Rolento owns combo scaling so get used to doing less damage then other people. Probably could put a Hugo or some other damaging character in to get better enders. Hugo probably gets like rekka x2 mp+mk clap, cr.mp lariat, st.lk xx back breaker though Im just guess.
What is everyone doing for combos after a switch cancel. So far, after Rolento comes in I’m usually panicking and just doing a c.HK or c.MKxxEX Patriot.
Anyone have some good combos once he comes in?
He doesn’t really have anything for a tag-in from what I have seen, I keep him on point for that reason.
Anyone discover any amazing character combos with Rolento yet?
Wait until you have 2 bars to launch into Rolento and do st.HP xx super
So it can scale to 6% and I waste 2 meters? No thanks.
I play Rolento/Heihachi atm. Hei has got some great combos into switch cancel that leaves the opponent in a juggle state. Ideally, I’d like to find something with Rolento that can juggle, do some damage/build more meter, and switch back into Hei. I know I can’t have it all or anything, but I’d still like to find an optimal combo with Rolento off of that switch cancel.
Anybody else having a hard time connecting rekkha x3 into super midscreen?
I’m having trouble with it today period. After a full 10hrs of playing, I can’t seem to get it consistently. Also, I’m not sure how many of you have played online or offline at all for that matter since the games come out, but any suggestions on how to play against grapple-rs when Rolento is out? Such as Gief, Hugom or even Marduck. The best thing I’ve come up with was using his amazing pokes to your advantage but those their pokes aren’t half bad either. Once they get in, I feel completely hopeless, esp when using Rolento.
Also gonna throw this in here for those who haven’t seen it yet. Textbook course by the man himself on control and pressure with Rolento.

Combofiend opts to use his meter on EX Circle and switch cancels over supers and tag supers. Just more options for us to think about and add into our game.

I think you have a good team there, but your problem is that you’re not putting Rolento on point. his damage isn’t that great so once he’s tagged in damage scaling will effect Rolento quite a bit. on top of that, he has little options when being tagged in. i’d say it’s best for you to just put him on point.
Anyone know any good 2nd chars to pair with rolento? It seems some chars are better on point (like rolento) who have limitied juggle capability, while others seems great to switch cancel into like hugo or king.
Rolento is definitely a char that should be started 1st.
^ Definitely, try playing around with Heihachi/Hugo/King/Raven.I’m playing with those characters myself to see how things work out. Each of them can juggle meterless into some decent damage and mixup afterwards.
