UCR team is complete but might be unable to play since UCR’s hosting it’s biggest concert with shitty performers. I’ll let you know wassup.
I just wanted to reiterate from my original post that in no way, shape, or form is this tournament separate or a main event at Rival Schools. It is JUST a side tournament. What this means:
- Most importantly, if you are playing in both and your match is called for both tournaments at the same time, you WILL be defaulted to Rival Schools. Everything about the MvC3 side will be defaulted towards having RS3 run as smooth as possible, and anything that can be done/changed to achieve this goal will be done.
- This is just a casual tournament. We will probably be using just one set up in the corner (most stations will be used up for RS3 and casuals), so all sorts of crazy things can happen. Again, #1 is the most important thing I will be focusing on, with #2 having this little side thing run as smooth as possible as well. Please understand resources are limited and I am only allowed to run this sort of thing because I received AyoChip’s permission, which he has the right to revoke at any time at his discretion.
- To continue off #2, AyoChip is the TO. Despite what role you think he may have or doesn’t have with this side tournament, anything he says will supersede anything anyone else says.
I just felt it was important to state these things because I understand everyone’s excitement behind the release of MvC3 and all the fresh faces that want to have their hand in this. Although I did want to get fresh blood into a competitive setting and have people get a good starting point with this game, I do not want it to grow out of proportion, which is why I implemented a cap in the first place and why I stated if you can bring your own set ups, please do, even if it ends up not being used for Marvel at all.
Also, I am heavily considering cutting the cap short at 24 people. This is my sole decision (I got AyoChip’s approval beforehand to cap it at 32), but the more I think about it, the more I feel 24 may be a better number for the simple fact about limited resources. I will be sure to update you if I do end up finalizing this decision (as of now you can assume it will stay at 32), and I may even have a let’s-keep-it-at-24-and-leave-8-spots-open-for-walk-ins-in-case-we-have-more-room thing going on. If you have any problems with this, please don’t post on this thread, but send me a PM instead; I will be more than glad to discuss it with you.
With these things in mind, I hope you guys enjoy Rival Schools 3, because although these things can be hectic at times given our limited space and resources, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the past two RS’s (even though I only spectated) and I know everyone wants to see continued success with these kinds of tournaments, because it is really an unique idea and at the same time, very stressful and grueling to make sure everything goes as planned.
Oh, well if cap is being lowered sign up HALPME! UCR is taking marvel 3 in all its shitty glory.

OK sorry for all the flip flopping, this is gonna be about as finalized as it gets.
- The cap will stay at 32, therefore my $100 thingy still stands
- IF WE ONLY HAVE ONE SET UP AVAILABLE FOR MVC3, THE TOURNAMENT WILL BE CHANGED TO SINGLE ELIMINATION. This is to help better streamline the RS3 event and minimize any delays in both tournaments. If we can miraculously get 2, all the rules in the tournament post will remain the same.
- Please keep this in mind for February 26th, but I honestly won’t hold it against you if you were coming in expecting double elim and you want to rescind your reservation because of the change in format. Some stupid line of text on the internet does not make you obligated to play in this tournament.
- Let’s all have fun =).

I don’t know how many times I have to stress this. I’ve given all schools enough time to set this schedule. Leave early, do what you gotta do to make it on time. I don’t even wanna think about when some asks me " I’m gonna be late because I have work." I’m asking all of you just do what I asked 4 weeks back and take the weekend off. There’s still time.
I want to have 10 set ups that day (atleast I hope to get that many). There are other things I plan to have their as well, but you’re all gonna have to wait and see on the day of.
By setup, I can bring a system/game. I would prefer not to bring my TV though, so does anyone have a random CRT they could bring?

Now though, fair warning, if you say the kind of stuff you say on the UCLA thread to me in real life, put your hands on me in anyway other than a handshake, or blatantly disrespect the UCR crew outside of gaming talk, I will be happy to mash uppercuts with you outside in a secluded area.
