P.S. The only people that like Halo2 are people that flat out sucked at Halo1 because it took skill to playthe next time you come over well run some Halo1 on XBCBITCH!!!
Yes, it does take alot of skill to run off, grab the pistol, and mow down the guy who keeps spawning with an assault rifle or a plasma pistol, doesn’t it?
thats why you start everyone off with pistol and AR, that way it’s all even and no one can talk shit
But that’s not default settings. That’s like starting everyone with a plasma pistol and battle rifle in halo 2, yeah, everyone’s on equal ground now, but there’s no reason to grab anything else to fight with. That was my recollection of halo, I may have picked up a shotgun or a sniper rifle to use now and then, but there was very little reason to use anything but the pistol.
Why not just start in halo 2 with a carbine/battle rifle and an SMG? Same basic principle as the first halo. I mean, I know you don’t like the fact you start with default stuff in halo 2’s matchmaking, but you know as well as I do if Halo had been on Live, it would’ve been default settings all the way through. It’s the custom settings people impose on these games that make them really shine. Like take smash bros-it’s a competitive game, but only after the custom settings are really gone into, it’s not something you can just pop in and say “alright, tourney”.
That’s my view on it. Halo is a fun as hell game, and we’ll probably enter the halo tourney next george thing, but I just plain have more fun screwin with people in custom games and LAN stuff in halo 2 then I did in Halo 1. To discount that and to say “the game just sucks all around” is just plain not true. I know you guys played with custom settings (beyond radar, which I think everyone turned off) in Halo, whereas we didn’t, so I suppose the initial “run for the good stuff” that halo 2 matchmaking tends to start off with is something I’m used to and don’t really complain about as much, so maybe that has something to do with it.
I will agree that matchmaking is fucked up when it starts you with shit like an SMG on coagulation and waterworks, or plasma rifles on midship, though-that’s just plain retarded.
