i feel it, got a def oldschool 90’s appeal…possibly wutang influenced not even talkin about his asian weaponary lines either.
Been listening to a lot of late '80s G Rap and Kane of late. Somebody sell me on Rakim. What are his best albums?
He def is wu tang inspiring his producer Is hella good with the sampling. If he continues to hone his flow and keeps picking good beats he can def put together a good tape that could get buzz. I think Koop said something about how rza picked certain beats to play in the winter to play on the subway or alone in your car with the heater is on. I can def get that vibe from this.
hmmm never knew that but def can see that, wow…time to go listen to some wu tang shit haha.
That’s how Black Moon and Mobb Deep feels imho. NYC roaming music.
I need some new Earl Sweat tho…deadass
New York rap does have that roaming sound to it it’s like music created to be listened to amongst your fellow heads and by yourself. When I jam old style ny shit it’s usually with niggas in a cypher or when we chilling n shit .
This is fucking beautiful? Who made this? My first guess would be DeShay but most likely not…I guess Weird Eye, Super3, or Left?

Marley Marl interview from '98
http://www.egotripland.com/marley-marl-interview-ego-trip-magazine/
I’m reading kanyes tweets and the reactions and I realized how much I hate how fucking dumb niggas are. Niggas want somebody to preach to and victimize them so they can champion. That shit is grotesque nobody has the brains to look around for themselves. This same nigga champions wealth n opulence and has these morons confused about wealth and how it’s created and maintained.Wealth ain’t a bunch of high end fashion brands and fancy ass shows .Its about knowledge the people he who rt him that I see just wanna pretend to be famous and wear nice clothes.
They don’t wanna create they want to consume and consume til they are so blind the minute they see they will moan and groan about how fucked the world is and how they can make a difference. Shit is revolting. Let’s party buy jays and talk about Gucci all day yet for this one hour on twitter I want to discuss how fucked up the world is. It’s like with Troy Davis niggas forgot about him within 4 hours. I hate these yuppie niggas . I hate everything they stand for let Kanye do an early release for yeezy 2 tomorrow they will forget all about what he said and endorse the same brands that embody this old world mindset that holds them back. Call me nihilistic or pessimistic but I know how these folks will forget all this shit and eat each alive.
Why was Kanye so salty? I feel you, btw. I remember in that interview on worldstar Ye did right when he was coming out of exile he compared himself to Nelson Mandela. I was like:

Just discovered this joint.
Saying XYZ dont rap about anything special is a moot point. What did Nas, RUNDMC, Biggie and Wu Tang rhyme about back in the day?
Same damn things.
Idk if there new or not but this group Timeless Truth is bringing it with that Up to date NYC winter music.I just heard this yesterday:

I’m in the mood for some ol Trick Daddy Dollars. That ‘old’ Florida sound from the Slip-N-Slide days.

Yezzir - baked rosemary chicken with julian cut vegatables, roasted red pepper & onion soup, with palenta cakes
Need an idea for tomorrow nyte, going to bless the kitchen with food so good, God himself is gonna ask for a piece (I’ll break him off of course )

EDIT - it won’t be my mac-n0cheese though. That shit was Gamebreaking good…I nicknamed it ST Akuma (mac-n0cheese with smoked gouda/pepperjack/parmesian with truffle oil assist GGPO), but I ate too much a couple weeks ago, I’m DONE with cheese for a bit. I was also sonning folks with my Deer Meatballs with the lively looking vegatables (read carrots) popping out and waterchestnuts for a little more texture (also included onions/green peppers/worchester sauce/bar-b-que sauce/fresh cracked pepper/hot sauce CRISTALS BITCH/sea salt)
http://www.datpiff.com/top2011 - Datpiff top mixtapes of the year. I don’t agree with most of it as key notables are missing - it seems to be 90% ‘whats popular’ and 10% ‘what they liked’.

Sorta agree.
Rap & R&b are ‘typically’ incredibly 1 to 2 dimensional.
I don’t even know what rock songs are about shrug
People are in general ust super nostolgic, so artist B could drop an album better than artist A, but if artist A dropped that effort in the 90s its almost universally looked upon as ‘better work’. Yes, flawed logic. But like I said, an average artist in this day and age can rhyme CIRCLES around artist from back in the day…we just don’t usually appreciate the elevation in skills. I see it because well I’ve been rhyming since what 94ish so I’ve rhymed thru all the changes and have gotten lost in the sauce trying to constnatly update myself. Skills are a moving target.
Currently bumping Pac Div “Mania” - another REALLY good mixtape that dropped in 2011 - and yes its better than their official effort ( though that was still entertaiing)

Actually. They were able to give scenario of things. A I stated way back in volume 7 everyone is RICH and BALLIN… no one gives us tales of struggle or that block hustle. Every got damn body is moving bricks or in a drought. Every got damn got body get “bitches” wit ease.
No one spits of set up tales (see old mobb deep)… no one spits of how they came up in the game (see scarface, biggie, eightball)… no one gives ode to things that made them (what happened to representing a area… see juvenille, nas)… no one spits on how broads can be grimy an set you up… no one really gives you a insight of fuccin hustling an REALLY moving up the chains from street shoot outs to moving cross state line (see the whole built for cuban linx album)
What did those you mentioned rap about. Well biggie did break down commandments… biggie did give you a lyrical battle… biggie did tell you subliminally how he hated certain people cause he was the king of ny… biggie did rap about how shyt changed… biggie did give you normal shyt you and i could relate to “my moms did gimmie what i wanted what the fuck???” and my favorite biggie line of all time “… my momma got cancer in her breast dont ask me why im muthafuccin stressed things done changed…”
Nas… nas gave you a vivid picture of the streets of NY… especially the borough of queens. a lyricist at heart and noted one of the BEST at the time “… niccaz wanna know how the best MC… biggie… jayz or nas” - Jay Z. He had a ability to tell you stories which most cant do today… listen to a song like I gave you power. I dont remember nas screamin bricks and keys an connections to druglords… he would mention niccaz that were powerhouses in HIS area (supreme, pappy mason…etc.)… you actually need to listen…
Wu… lets not even get started… one the DEFINED sound. they had THEIR own path all of their own. you said wu tang that shyt came with a meaning. what did they rap about… hustling… but hustling was hard… drug addiction… grimey tales of bitches that would stab you in the back… or better yet smart dumb niccas fuccin bitches raw an catchin the virus… CREAM… that shyt became a moniker that is still used today… yet the song itself never boasted of being INSTANT MILLIONAIRES… it was again the struggle of getting an maintaining…
Run DMC… REALLY? you need to re-listen to their catalog… im not even gonna break down the architects to this rap shyt. they were MCs and Rappers… thats all that needs to be said. let alone the ability with the help of rick rubin to revive a genre that was dying (your welcome rock n roll)…
I honestly dont get into that… i will tell you a artist from an era an compare them to artist of that era. when i define a different its something that i feel that carrys over through the generations (rhyme style, charisma, ability to make a album, stage presence, core knowledge of the game)… they are artist that are great today. not going to knock them but the moment you want to take a artist and compare their work to say a artist from mid 90s thats definitely not fair challenge. On cause the attitude an atmosphere of that time was different and so much shyt was going on… said artist may not be able to ‘relate’ to the kids today but during said timeline he dominated… just dont do it just like i dont get into region vs region artist arguement (ie biggie vs pac)… one to better relate too would be nas vs jigga…
people are picky about rhymes and close themselves in. i know my gangsta shyt from my lyrical shyt. i will never compare the two… i will not put a scarface up against biggie… face can rap an give tales but getting ‘lyrical’… no thats not his area so i dont go into a face album looking for lyrical wordplay. i do belive theyre core things to being a rapper an you have to be able to do those things… i know skills as time move on change… flow style changes though some stick to the usual structure or create a path known for them… lets not forget why luda got at drake an that other guy cause they thought they CREATED something that was done waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back during the tribe called quest days (again core things carrying over)…
Koop the OG,dropping mad jewels!
