theres dope stuff out,I just wish the DJ element of hip hop wasn’t missing.Producers don’t produce joints with a “DJ Mindstate” anymore,u can’t cut up or beatmatch newer joints cuz of it.

i don’t necessarily disagree with your core point, but you sound kinda dumb by claiming drake doesn’t have talent…but rick ross does. if drake does have talent then ross doesn’t either and vice versa…also drake has written a lot of hits for different people so he obviously has more than a little skill.

I never said Rick Ross was talented. I said he can drop a few bars or two, big difference. Writing “hits” means jack to me when the hits are probably droning inanity and sing-song bullshit over well-produced beats (aka the reason why the industry of wack rappers is thriving)… unless you can cite me some examples. I am eager to listen.

he wrote for wayne before he blew up himself and apparently he has some shit on detox, alicia keys, rihanna, chris brown, etc…

And said “R&B” album was more gully, lyrical, and well performed than Drake’s entire existence.

[Negrodamus] Real Hip-Hop heads don’t like Waka Flocka…because he makes ODB look like Rakim[\Negrodamus]

went to my drinking spot with my dude tonight, glo bar at the casino. He sat and I ordered my drink. I get my drink and go sit next to him.
Some middle aged white chick gets in my grill, like two inches from my face.
" what you drinkin?"
rum and pineapple
"pineapple and what?!?!
rum and pineapple
"does it get you fucked up?!?!"
before I could answer her friend drug her off.
ish caught me off guard

We then went to the Jack Daniels bar and grill that’s in the casino(it’s a casino resort type deal.)
Nothing but white waitresses not one niggette in sight.
I saw this white broad with raven hair, ish was curled, she was kinda tall, cute shape, I got caught up and dropped my cup of water I got off the casino floor.
"nigga you spillin shit all over the place"
alcohol x cute white chick= epic fail on my part. chicks name was Kayla, that’s a nigga name imo lmfao.
I still ride and die for my sistas tho.

Niggas are named Kayla? Not in my world

I don’t disagree with that either.

Speaking of Wu…I was in Bed, Bath & Body Works listening to Wu-Tang Forever. Y’all can already guess what happened. BLACK SHAMPOO came on. And I was like aww shit. That song is simping 101. Like I imagine U-God thinking:

“Aww yeah RZA I got some piff shit right here. pulls out bath salts and tosses in studio I’m ready par!!!” I think the nigga was really feelin hisself that bad…He was just naming spices/herbal remedies.

Ayy fam. I’m getting my artsy on real quick. Ima start producing/rapping, designing clothes, and filmin music vids for my man’s & em. Directing/editing and Creative input. We building a team. I just finally need to start expressing myself now I’m surround by creative people. Back at home ain’t nobody tryna fuck wit a nigga so if I blow I don’t wanna hear nobody cryin when I don’t put em on. I gave em hand outs when I was coming up. Now I’m poppin shit off YO.

yuuuuuuup, i know exactly what you talking about. ain’t none of them niggas really had it that bad either, except maaaaaaaaybe big sean, and i’m only assuming that 'cause he from detroit. and i got some folks out there, i know flint and detroit is hella rachet.

and in my opion, you forgot add eminem to that list, too. all his shit now is hella corny and just fucking comes off hella weanie. except maaaybe a few songs on bad meets evil.

‘Reasony’? Err…never heard that before - but I use Reason and Sonar. I absolutely hate hte sample process in Reason. There are benefits, but I’ve never needed to take it there.

 • :bluu:

I don’t fully agree. Can you talk about alot of different stuff - always.

but can you do that and sell though? I’m a ‘retired’ computer geek - I could EASILY get my tech swag on on a track, but would anyone care? NO.

And real talk, Ye’s first album actually stil lfalls directly in line with J Cole’s conceptually. It was about life before being signed, finally making, and issues he had before he got signed. The format was dressed up with a college theme - but that was just a vehicle to convey the issues he had in life before getting signed. Oh and some Party-n-bullshi tracks thrown in for good measure. the only REAL difference between J Cole and Ye’s albums is that well Ye is a better producer - so while both efforts were mostly self-produced - Ye’s was simply better music shrug

“I went to Cheesecake he was a muthaf*ckin waiter there!”

 • :bluu:

And you’re either forgetting something or ignorant to something. Do you know what the DJ element was? It was the early beat makers. Equipment for making beats cost too much - so cats started looping the ‘breaks’ in music to create a platform for MCs to rhyme over. Now the role of the old school DJ has split between party-maker and producer, but they were one in the same, and ironically time went in a circle as over the past 5 years, rap has been dominated by producers more so than emcees.

 • :bluu:

true, but maybe I said it wrong,i was refering to beats that were made with DJ’s in mind. There is nothing on the radio or on albums that u can cut up or mix on anymore because of the song structure,if it is it’s rare, thats the reason why I dont do any new school tapes. To me these are joints with “DJ Song Structure”:

pretty much mostly all the songs back in the 80’s,90’s were made with that structure. Not saying that if u dont have that makes u a bad mc or anything, but its a element that is missing and needed.Thats why DJ’ing isnt that big of a thing anymore.

its because alot o that ‘structure’ lead to people just jacking instrumentals…I know I’ve done it myself, so you have to name drop or talk over it all to prevent things like that. It’s a business YEP!

I played Eminem’s Recovery to start the day, working on my first listen of Kendrick Lamar.

 • :bluu:

speaking of Em…that joint with Yelawolf and Gangsta Boo dropped.feeling it:

http://thathustle.com/forums/f2/new-music-yelawolf-feat-gangsta-boo-x-eminem--throw-up-7404007.html

So…does anyone want to hold a pool to when Kzoh gets his first piece of trim from a white girl?:rofl:

Well that’s what some of my fellow DJ friends say. I personally have never messed with reason, so I wouldn’t know, but I hear good things about it from other folks. I just think it is a good idea for me to venture out a bit, and try some new things with my music.

Reason has pros and cons. Its essentially over the top complex in look and setup, yet once you’ve figured out what you’re doing you love the way they set it up (its designed to be like an actual rack of equipment, you can even hit tab to flip to the back of the units and rewire things as you see fit, so you can run a set of drums directly into your main mixer of if you choose you can reroute them thru some sound effects processor first). The other nice thing is the sounds that come packaged are actually decent in sound quality and there is a nice amount of soundbanks floating around - I’m sitting on around 50 Gigs worth of soundbanks though 2/3 of them are meh for me as they are too techno and synthetic, which is the opposite direction I go.

On my side though I need help with some equipment. Not buying anymore shoes until I buy a new controller.

 • :bluu:

Has the new Jedi Mind Tricks album been discussed yet?
(sorry first time posting in this thread)

I dig that man. What kind of controller are you looking to get? I have a Korg nano pad that I bought for like $20, which is nice for when I want to add a little bit to my live DJ sets. I also have an MPK which I love (I like having an actual keyboard and pads). So are you looking for something really heavyweight, or something a bit low key, to do what you are trying to do?

Wrong type of controller - I gave my Radium61 to one of my boys when I bought a MPK49. I’m looking for something to replace my Tascam US-428 - its what I use for recording. Currently run my B1 condensor mic thru a Presonus Bluetube Amp and into the Tascam and record into Sonar, but Win7 doesn’t have drivers for my Tascam, using Vista ones adds too much damn latency and causes the computer to crash, so I need to replace the Tascam. Only other option is to dual-boot into XP, and at this point I’d rather just replace the Tascam as it wasn’t great anyways (did its job admittedly though)

 • :bluu:

It went ignored honestly. And welcome. Line for getting your hair cut starts there.

 • :bluu:

Oh, that’s too bad. The album is solid, even with Stope’s absence.

On a side note, what is everybody’s opinion of this cut from Ras Kass’ Soul on Ice.
