The Rap Thread: News, Reviews, Rants, Opinions Vol 7. Death to Swizz Beats!

Tha Bizness produced the songs for the musical and I’m pretty impressed so far.

Also, at Charlie Murphy doing the voice of Al Sharpton.

In freaknic who was the head lady boole (I know I probably spelled that wrong but whatev) supposed to be?

The head is Oprah, along with Russell Simmons, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, etc.

 @ Lil Wayne’s character “Trap Jesus” getting locked up and Lil Wayne is actually locked up IRL one day later. Too good.

basically the Illuminati uh?

Ol’ habitual line-stepping ass nigga.

I need to start a new rap thread where only sane niggas can post.

How you gon not be a fan of Big and stan for a dude that be smoochin niggas, gettin his lip pierced, and wears sagging tight Burt Reynold and 'nem jeans?

Not to mention his raps make about as much sense as a lesbian with a top of the line dildo.

That shit aint in the song…

I actually like rude boy and also like the short hair,Not really a fan of weave.

this nigga did not just say that he’s not a fan of big…

after this guy called MMLP overrated, i really shouldn’t be surprised by anything this guy says but alas…next he’s gonna tell us that benzino won the battle.

I hate when rappers stop in the middle of they raps and try to explain a punchline they just said

like we the ones that didnt finish school or something and we stupid

Don’t y’all go through this like every 6 months?

Not a fan of 2pac either. See when those niggas was out I was waaaay too into Bone. I didn’t really fuck with anybody, but them in the 90s. Trying get into Big now seems kind of pointless to me now. Besides if they didn’t grab my attention then, then they’re not gonna hold my attention now. Don’t get me wrong, they’re both good rappers, but just not something I’d really listen too.

Bone was my favorite rap act of the mid-90’s also. Still… I found time to appreciate others…

Shit I didn’t. Hell I had to steal the first two bone cassettes from my sister. I think I liked Bone so much because of their flow and it made other rappers seem boring to me, like BIG, etc…

R.I.P Biggie Smalls

It reminds me of a time when hip hop was about creating a mood, a feeling and actually having talent.

smh…that doesn’t even really begin to make sense, but whatever

hulk hogan called into ciph & rosenberg and had me dying lol.

^ How doesn’t it make sense?

hmm, my post detailing the specific ridiculousness of your post got lost eaten by the new SRK…whatevs

i’ll just say that i’m kinda surprised you’d dismiss biggie so quickly considering he’s usually the first rapper that your idol mentions when he talks about dudes that influenced him along with bun b.

I remember back in high school (93-95) you were either a Biggie fan or Pac fan. You were either a Wu-Tang fan or Bone fan. I myself was a Big and Wu fan and the "arguments about who was better was so fun back then. I remember one time during lunch (we use to go to certain teachers’ classrooms for lunch) and there was some ROTC people who were heavy into Bone. it was about five of them in the room and they were saying how Bone was better than Wu. The rest of the room, which was about 15 of us turned around and was like “WTF are you smoking?!?!?”. Fun times. Me and my friends back then were also catalyst for the Boot Camp Click “movement” in my school.

Edit: I can’t believe it’s been 13 years since Biggie passed. I remember waking up and turning on the news that sunday morning hearing about his death. I had to shed a tear for one of the greatest to have graced hip-hop with his presence.:sad:

I did not understand biggie until I actually was introduced to him via my folks from NY… I was living in Memphis so it you were not southern, west coast, midwest… i really didnt a “schooling” (no innanetz, everything was word of mouth an some radio play). i had a chance to visit NY (Brooklyn to be exact… shout out to my folks in the albany ave pjs… eastern ave)… an low an behold i was taught WORDPLAY, ONLINERS, PUNCHLINES… this intrigued me an via that moment was quickly given the new age east coast artist… my lineup went exactly like this:

biggie… nas (via built for cuban linx… not ILLmatic… this can YEARS later after it was written)… redman… wu tang (who for some reason i thought had fuccin 30 members, lol… thanks to the documentary THE SHOW)… an numerous others…

i place biggie an pac in my…“whats the purpose they are godlike so let me start at number 2”… kinda like my richard pryor/george calin status…biggie said a line that made me absorb him quicker than ever cause “i could relate”

using personal situation to create emotion on a record biggie did for me an honestly help me refocus on artist skills who used the same standard (ie scarface)…

its sad that big is gone and I APPRECIATE what he gave to game… living up the East Coast Standards… handling his beefs via the “way of the times” by subliminally getting at his enemies that forced the listeners to THINK (something that doesnt happen anymore)… an last but not least making sure his craft of lyricism and SONG STRUCTURE was on point at all times…

Thanks Biggie…

not gonna get into a argument as most will cause i respect the skill and gifts given…

i mean i liked bone back in the day, but i dont’ ever remember getting in an argument over them vs. the wu…i mean shit, back then i thought method man was the greatest rapper ever just off the strength of tical
