That’s why I really think they need to restart the leader boards over again when they get this online component under control. Right now it’s a complete mess.
They need to actually change the matchmaking and lp system. It’s too simple and doesn’t really work. Because matchmaking is determined by how you decide to limit your options (searching for 5 star connections for example), you might only play the same 2/3 players over and over again. If those players are scrubs and you win 20 in a row against them, you’ve gained possibly an entire rank. On the other hand, you might be really good but you get Ricki Ortiz every 2/3 games and get bodied, thus you don’t really make any gains on the leaderboard.
The lp system doesn’t take into account character diversity. Perhaps having different lp for each character would be a better way to do this. In this regard the pp/bp system was better.
Another thing - a lot of people aren’t rage quitting every game they lose, just games where they lose to someone in a league or 2 below them and are about to lose 100+ lp. How is this any different to the PP/BP system that everyone says was so much worse than the current one? And just because you only rage quit here and there doesn’t hide the fact you cheated and thus your “record” is fraudulent.
As long as these rankings are based on something simple like league points and nothing else, they will always favour the good player on a bad connection, the grinder who plays more than anyone else, along with people that find ways to exploit the system. It clearly wasn’t thought through and it needs to be changed. Imo it should be based on win % and disconnect %. If you come up against an opponent with a higher disconnect than 10%, the game should give you the option to opt out of playing them before the match begins. That way you aren’t put into a nasty situation of - win = get disconnected on, lose = the rage quitter gets your points.
I wouldn’t mind this actually. I could get back to 4k without too much hassle while the ragequitters can sit at the bottom and finally accept they suck.
