The Queen of MAHVELL 3!: The Morrigan GD Thread

I think anyone who knows how Morrigan traditionally plays would much rather know if she has decent low attack lol.

Yep, you can do that and other overheads off trijump too.

Her lows are 5A, 2B, and her sweep like in tvc.

“pussy pics” tag.

Are there any specific characters that look like they work better with morrigan than others?

So, a few questions:

  • Does she have any command normals other than shell kick?? :f::m: was a special variation of her old fierce in TvC, for instance, does she have that here?
  • Has anyone seen / attempted to do “fast fly” combos with her new flight mode?
  • What are the 3 angles of her air/ ground Soul Fist? Straight and 2 differnt angles? 2 straight of different speed + 1 angled?
    — Can she have 2 projectiles on screen at once?

I’m glad to see how many smart changes they’ve made to her (Real 8 way Air dash is very welcome). Her Magic series was horrid in MvC2, for example, and while I liked soul eraser as well, I’m glad to see Finishing shower buffed to competency now. If the lack of a full screen punish super allowed her to have an additional utility super with Astral Vision, I’m all for it.

Hope Darkness Illusion is still easy to land out of crouch sweep; t’was a personal fav of mine in TvC.

Pre-emptive thanks to any who help with these questions!

  1. She has her Succubus Scythe(f+H) from TvC, so I assume she does indeed have Valkyrie Spike(f+M) from TvC as well since she has her TvC moveset.

  2. No one has tried fast fly combos yet, but I assume she can since we’ve seen Iron Man, Phoenix, and Sent do them. I asked Tronzilla if he could test them out at the next fight club, so hopefully he can answer it for us.

  3. Soul Fist has different angles. On the ground, the light and medium versions go horizontal. One faster than the other. The heavy version on the ground goes up at a 45 degree angle, an anti-air version. In the air, Soul Fist goes diagonally down, two different speeds for light and medium version. The heavy version in the air goes straight horizontally. Yes, she can have multiple fireballs on screen at once.

Darkness Illusion combos from pretty much anything as always in the air and on the ground.

I’ll ask again since last time I was pretty much ignored - guess I gotta blame that on SRK’s spasms.

Does her shadow’s normal attacks do chip damage during Astral Vision?

No, Morrigan and her clone’s normals do not do chip damage during Astral Vision.

Ahhh, thanks for all the answers. The game seems pretty welcoming of command normals, so it’ll be nice to see how they handle here.

Glad to hear Soul Fist still retains varying ground and diagonal speeds. Really liked using them to cover approaches / general screen clutter. Wonder if SFist will eat Deadpool’s trigger happy, like it devoured Megaman Volnutts entire machine gun burst in TvC…

I think it was MvC2 that I played, where Darkness Illusion had an uncharateristically crappy startup… really glad to see them getting rid of some of the more “what were they thinking?!” choices they’ve made for her since the Vampire days…

Now if only they’d let me combo 2 standing :l:'s into Vector Drain in this game, as well…

Got a little compilation video from the London Croydon event up. Morrigan footage at the begining

MVC3 22nd Jan 2011: Zade ? Morrigan/Wesker/Super Skrull

Preview event footage for Marvel VS Capcom 3 in the UK. 2 Arcade cabinets, annoyingly the buttons were different and completely wrong on both of them. On one of the cabinets buttons were not working and kept changing position in between matches like assist 1 and C for example! This was a mind fuck to say the least. Some footage was from pad matches it was so stressful playing on stick.

Nothing too fancy here, just some footage from my team on the day (MOR/WES/SS) Controlling Weskers and SS?s teleports to extend combos was way too confusing due to the layout so doing them was a task I couldn?t be bothered to even attempt lol. Even though most people couldn’t utilise their characters because of the buttons all day, was still loads of fun! Regardless, should be a nice memento to look back on after the game is released!

What cab was that? Vewlix clone or an actual Vewlix cab?

So, what teams are looking good for Morrigan? I was thinking Dormammu/Doom/Morrigan

I liked using Dante, Trish, Ammy, Skrull, and Doom with Morrigan when I played. Dante, Ammy, and Trish especially.

Dormammu benefits from Morrigan more than she does from him though.

I’m thinking Morrigan/X-23/Trish
I’m not to sure on Trish though I might switch her for Dormammu, Wesker, or Chun.
I might even throw Jill in there once we see how she plays.

Dark Harmonizer
Shadow Blade
Soul Fist

which assist will you use?
i would learn towards shadow blade unless my team really needs the meter

So at the end of arcade mode you think Morrigan will say to Chris “So when we get back… do you wanna… well, you know?”

Kind of like how Ashley did to Leon in RE4? Morrigan seems quite attached to those boulder punching muscles.

I think 99% of people playing Morrigan will pick Shadow Blade, considering that a huge amount of characters in this game need AAA’s and Morrigan has one of the best…

Dark Harmonizer seems too situational
sure it gives you meter no matter if she gets hit or not
but most people would prefer a offensive assist rather then one that just pops in to increase your hyper meter(unless your using phoenix)

You could look at it another way: 99% of the characters in this game have an AAA, but only two have a meter-booster.

It’s also invincible, if I recall correctly. You could call it as a meat wall and cover her escape with a projectile while building meter.

If you have a meter heavy character and someone else with a good AAA, it could work. A Team Hyper Punish (Ammy or Storm/Morrigan/Ryu for example), would want Shoryu assist and Dark Harmonizer because two or three cover Dark Harmonizers = an extra Ice Storm/Four Elements DHC Shinkuu, which would put the hurt on any point character and probably kill a baited assist.
