The Power of Chi! Official Iron Fist thread!

Iron Fist seems to have an awesome moveset. Actually, all of the new characters seem really well put together. It seems Seth was right when he said it was easier for them to create movesets for characters brand new to the series than it was to expand on already established characters.

i was thinking the same thing, he attacks a few times, builds the chi, then changes the chi(stance, whatever you want to call it) adds damage or some buff, then gets to continue. I’m not sure how much health Vergil has, probably around the same as dante, and he was taken for about 85% life in one combo using 1 bar. seemed to be an easy combo as well…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfRhuh3vMVk&feature=feedu 1:40 in this video is what im talking about.

“Lei Kung, I have shamed you”, sounds like to me. He’s the guy that trains Iron Fists, iirc.

please change this thread to “the power of chili”

By the power of gaia and the power of chi

It’s going to be likely that he will have a lot of health because I don’t think they have shown rather Iron Fist has any mobility options or any long range options. He is going to need some assists to get him in too. He should probably have a very good ground dash to make up for that. It seems like he can do the damage, and combo by himself. There is no way that they won’t give him mix up potential if he doesn’t have a way in.

So I imagine he would be very similar to Polimar/ with a little Fei Long where you basically struggle to get in, but once you’re in…you stay in.

I wonder if in crumple>chi>combo if there’s any reason they dash each time, or if its just showing how much goddamn time he has to do stuff.

Who has the longest ground combos in the game right now?

I was watching his health at one point during the gameplay vids. He seems mighty… healthy.

EDIT: YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEA!

The only thing I fear is that Wesker won’t do him much.

If the HSD allows tho, you can extend his BNB used in those gameplay videos by one more air series using Wesker OTG, that would already increase the damage significantly.

That would be too perfect, and I could instantly boot Wesker off my team if Danny can give me that delicious OTG potential along with what could amount to some awesome mixup.

I think that maybe his normals have shitty range so dashing would be safer.

But it would be nice if in the corner you could trade the dash for another chi power up.

iron fist = marvel wesker whit fei long moves.
/thread

except he doesn’t have a teleport or a gun, and has a charge mechanic that neither Fei Long nor Wesker have.

Otherwise, you’re totally right!

Iron Fist = Marvel’s Bruce Lee

WOOOOOOOOOAH

spiderman?
modok?
Jill?

The only thing I’m dissapointed about is he doesn’t have a Bionic ARRRMMMMMM! sort of hyper. I was hoping for this omega punch that wall bounces and can be used to punish on block. Instead it’s a series of punches that basically does the same thing… But it’s not nearly as badass as a single Iron Fist punch of death that should one shot everyone but the Hulk and Thor  either way… He looks fun as hell to play, but I do see a problem with Iron Fist vs Sent matchup… Seems rough.

Think that maybe if I play him on point, I’d need an AA assist and a beam assist? Cause I’m pretty sure I wanna use Ryu, so I could use his AA (not the best AA… I know. But oh well) and maybe Doom either Molecular Shield or Plasma Beam. Or who knows… Maybe Nova will have a badass beam assist

Just wondering because he has a self-OTG, a crumple, a wallbounce, the upkicks look like they give a knockdown (and plenty of recovery to hit again dependent on decay), if he has a ground bounce, he could easily push people from one corner to the other with no meter use at all (and maybe back!), which is pretty damn cool.

Also, pure guess, but I bet Dragon Kick! Has anti-fireball properties similar to tatsus.

That’d be SOOOO dirty if it were an assist.

I’m gonna be running Iron Fist/Thor/Wesker. Team Aryan triumvirate go!

I am extremely curious what switching his “chi stance” does.

I just noticed that changing his chi stance gives him a little bit of meter, which I find odd.
