The Power of Chi! Official Iron Fist thread!

I hope Iron Fist has some nice anti air options. Idk how he is gonna be able to get in like other characters.

You dissing my Spencer/Wesker shit? nah just kidding I’m kinda glad DHC Trick is out. Although I’ll probably have to drop my Spencer because of it, together with the other small nerfs he got I don’t think he’ll be that good anymore. Wesker is still godlike though and he has that purple outfit now… So maybe Iron Fist/Beam assist/Wesker.

Also have we seen IF’s low hitting normals?

The glitch is an annoyance of mine in general not you specifically:P

I think that you can just do three.

I’m ecstatic that Iron Fist is even in the game.

Does anyone in this thread plan on going to the fight club this week? I would really like to know if his Cr L hits low, if he actually has a divekick, and if he has any specials that help him go through projectiles. Just throwing this out there incase any of you are lucky enough to live in the area and want to be an awesome person:)

Some rekka chains, turns out you CAN go downward, but it seems limited to 3 hits per rekka (maybe?)
high>touch :l::m:
Low>high>low :l::l::l::
upkicks>dragon fang :h::s:
low>stomp>upkciks :l::m::h: *combos by the way,
low>stomp>dragon fang :l::m::s:
low>high>either S :l::l::s:
stomp>low>palm :m::l::h:
There are more of course, I’ll look 'em up and update.

The real trick I think is less the moves cancelling, but rather the move properties being tricky. For instance, you don’t want to continue the chain after Dragon Touch, both light options would miss after upkicks, and unless you’re in the corner most follow-ups to Dragon Palm will whiff (he knocks them pretty far back).

On the other hand, you can do non-chain rekka finishers too, like there’s no reason you couldn’t do upkicks>shoulder>hit them on the bounce with Dragon Fang (note coudln’t, not shouldn’t :p) I’ve seen about all of hte moves done outside of the chains, too.

XXX: Proposed loop is the Stomp>Low>Palm chain we’ve seen, repeated.

And I'm still betting Dragon Fang goes through projectiles. He needs it so bad.

Edit: We should make a list of things to check out. Most of the questions don't get answered usually, but its worth doing :D

His c.L seems to be visible and looking like his standing jab only crouching(so very likely it doesn’t hit low, alsosadly no real signs of c.M or H), but he does have low hitting rekkas, what he might benefit fromis obscuring assists, so its hard to see which rekkas he is doing.

@Maiz, i don’t doubt that 3 is the limit, my question was more about can we do 3 qcf L rekkas or does the middle need to be a different one(is L, L, M rekka possible?) I’m curious of these.

I wouldn’t hope too much that he himself has something to bypass, they are porbably expecting us to use assists for that. But I wont deny itd be nice :smiley:

hmm, from watching again, the jump-cancellable kick is a command normal it looks like, not the upkicks rekka. He does the high kick, but doesn’t jump. Upkicks might be cancellable too tho, you def can do only one.

And I really think with the limit, its probably no repeat, and more than 3 is possible but impractical. At some point I thought Killian said you could do all of them in one chain, but maybe he meant in one combo.

I think it’s the rekka upkicks, you jump cancel on the first hit.

Also I saw IF do Dragon Stomp into Low rekka kick, so it seems like you can go back in the chain unlike a magic series. It’s in his gameplay video against Vergil on the new Danger Room stage.

Good call, he definitely goes :m::l::h:. In fact, it seems to be his standard OTG chain. Makes me even more sure of the loop tho’, seems so obvoius!

And I’m also becoming convinced that El_Maiz is right, you’re limited to 3 moves in a Rekka chain.

Still no direct ‘same move 3x in a row’ repetition to be seen.

When he said you can link them all I think he simply meant of the 3 in the series, any can be any of the 8 and it doesn’t care which you do. Seth demonstrated once with a :qcb::l:, :qcb::m:, :qcb::l:(low, overhead, low). So some repeat is allowed, I’m just curious how much.

Ya, I think its just not the same one twice in a row.

SO: QUESTION LIST FOR ANYONE GOING TO FIGHTCLUB!

  1. Can you do the same move twice (or three) times in a row in a chain? (so :qcb::l:x3, for instance) probably not
  2. How long can a rekka chain be? Is it limited to 3 hits? probably
  3. Does his ducking light hit low? What are his other ducking moves? Any low hitting normals at all? Overhead normals?
  4. Any projectile beating specials/normals? (specifically blue chi charge and dragon fang)
  5. Dive Kick? Yes/No? probably not
  6. Can you hyper cancel chi-charging moves? If so do you keep the charge you would have gained?
  7. Any other command normals, we have 1 confirmed so far (impact palm)
  8. Any specials air-OK?
  9. Can he wavedash well?

any questions will be added to the list, maybe we’ll get a few of then answered :smiley:

Man if only UMvC3 was at First Look in October. I could’ve checked out the game there but nooo Capcom’s only bringing SFxT. Oh well.

This right here,also
Can any of his specials be done in the air?

Also, how good is his wavedash.

Love that Danny has enough time to activate his Attack-Chi Buff, X-Factor AND his Level 3 before Nemesis even manages to hit his knees in crumple state.

Curious as to whether or not “My iron fist will shred your armor to pieces” is a diss reserved exclusively for Arthur, or something that he says to Iron Man as well.

Is anyone else loving that assist Iron fist does, where he comes out and does that flying kick that wallbounces? It looks pretty useful for combos, and maybe you can throw it out there to punish moves and make it into big damage.

that vid pretty well underlies the problem’s he’s gonna have lol, altho the guy playing arthur basicallybeats him close in too.

Figured out the dragon palm thing, it just has a huge ‘behind’ hitbox. I guess not useful as all that.

After watching that video, I noticed two things, neither related to IF.
Arthur did a great combo meterless.
Cap cartwheeled through Firebrand’s fireball!
