DopeUyuu-try and get some use out of cl. forward and see how well it works. try things like after landing run slide, safe jump followup with either nj. forward or nj. rh then do cl. forward > cr. short > TC and or just cl. forward > TC. i’d like to know how well it blows up crouch techs or just people pressing buttons unnecessarily. i haven’t seen a lot of people using cl. forward in videos despite hearing that it’s better.

also if you face rose or sim, see if you can cross them up easier.

So after experimentation with cl. forward I can say that it did get better, just like MadMaestro predicted it does seem easier to fish people out for counter hits. Definitely a useful tool now and blew up a lot of Yangs trying to counter jab to his BnB. Cl. Fierce seemed way better as well, it’s easier to link cl.fierce, st. Mp into slide.

Definitely missing the buffs Guy got now that I’m back home and playing Super on console again. I miss the 3 frame cr.LK and fixed TC :frowning:

Also, can anyone confirm this for me? It seems Guy’s EX run super-armour even lasts through all the frames of Sudden Stop.

The stop portion of Ex Run-Stop has an additional 1 hit of armour that’s separate from the 2 hit armour during the run.

Nice vid. Something wierd though. I tried cr.LKX2> Kara throw on Ryu and it worked fine, but I can’t seem to get it at all against Rufus and Fei Long (those are the only 2 other characters I tried…). This was with the exact same recording, so the exact same kara-throw that works on Ryu whiffs against other characters… Any solution to this?

1 extra hit of armour in Sudden Stop? That’s awesome! Wonder what sorta defence options this could create for Guy? Perhaps something similar to what El Fuerte can do - run, absorb, stop, throw? Hmm…

Dunno if its worth watching.I’ve only watched the first round and the Guy player seemed good.

One thing I noticed is that he easily connected cr.short x2 after run>overhead on a grounded opponent.Maybe the frames on run>overhead improved slightly?In Super you can only connect cr.short on counter hit overhead so I assume the frames have been improved somehow if cr.short now combos off a regular run>overhead.

This is sick if this is what it looks like.I think I comboed off run>overhead maybe twice in my whole time of playing GUY in super.This is one of his sickest combos and the risk for doing run overhead (it can easily be focused by 3/4 of the cast and is really bad on block) is now balanced because you can score a good damaging combo.

you’re right, i saw it. it didn’t even look like a meaty run overhead. next time i go to milpitas golf land, i’ll check this out. i’ll go in the morning when no one is there and bring my camera or something, see if one of the locals can record me
for those of you interested, it’s at ~0:45 or 0:46 seconds. when he does it again at like 11:45 he drops it though. so i don’t know if it’s that easy to do

also, nothing really toooo special i think, but pretty cool: 7:05 he does overhead kara into lp bunshin fip and grabs the dash straight haha. you guys ever do this to kill balrog?

I’ve watched quite a few fights. They’re a really good showcase of what Guy can do in AE. At one point he does fierce bushin flip to elbow drop (hit) on standing Makoto and combos into cr.lk. Quality isn’t the best but I did not spot the counterhit sign pop up, so it was a normal combo. This isn’t possible in super right?

Edit: Around the end past the hour mark, he does EX run through Bison’s scissors, stops and attempts U2 but ex hozanto comes out instead!

i don’t know who that guy player is but he is really fucking good. the perfect in the cody match at around 45:00 was beautiful. lands a focus crumple in the corner… cl. rh > ff chain > rh hurricane, backs up and charges another focus, cody jumps in fear of getting hit by the focus again… guy dashes forward and does TK EX izuna… empty jump cr. short x2 > ff chain for the perfect. honestly… i think i like watching this dude more than kiryu(unless it is him… but i doubt it… style of play is too different)… smart use of run stop pressure but doesn’t abuse it. and he’s the only guy player i’ve seen that uses the cr. jab/short > cl. fierce frame trap.

i think more guy players need to use empty jump cr. short > ff chain more often. i just don’t see it enough when it’s such a great tool. actually i don’t think people empty jump low short enough with any character, but it’s especially useful for guy because of the added advantage of landing ff chain.
