i don’t hate the game… but fanboyism is such a fucking annoyence sometimes… maybe im hater of the community… but i sure don’t hate the game…( i still play halo 2 alot… until h3 came out) but before you take a look at halo… look at all the other fps coming out… HAVE SEEN CoD4… and unreal tournament 3 will have more implements … force field tanks… flak cannon awesomeness!! can’t wait… don’t get me wrong ill buy h3 when i get a 360… cuse there’s always comp for that game… the problem is that other games that are gonna be good don’t get a shot…
and unreal had the hardcore players and then boosted up when more players found the awesomness… but none of these games would exist without DOOM
Halo is to the FPS community as Final Fantasy 7 was to the RPG community. They’re both fine games, but there are ALOT of fucking people whose introduction to gaming, and specifically that of the genre said games represent, came up with these two games. So they missed out on the games that were around beforehand that created those precedents or had parts and pieces borrowed from.
I went from Doom to Quake to Golden Eye to Rainbow Six, then I stopped. I spent an absolutely ABSURDLY ABSURD amount of time with Doom. That game blew the fucking shit out of everything back in the day. Halo does well on its own, but this RAMPANT following has me scratching my head. Where were you when they released Unreal on the PS2? Quake on the DC? Doom 2? Doom 1. Goldeneye? Perfect Dark? Turok? Shit is a little perplexing, but then I realize that there’s alot of pompous ass high school motherfuckers whose first video gaming console was an X-box, so it falls into place, eventually.
But whatever, no real hate for the game, but the instant people start going off about it like it’s done anything but establish itself in the mainstream, well, then they need to shut the hell up.
I agree with you guys, my first FPS was this crappy game called Wolfenstien, I was like 5 or six and my brother was playing that join. This was waaaaaayy before Doom became popular to demonize by the right wing fanatics. The there was rise of the triad (after doom) that got no play, Dark Forces, Duke Nukem (which I played extensively) and all of these were good in their own right. I agree with you that Halo is FPS’s Final Fantasy but that doesn’t negate the fact that both are good games.
For those that don’t know “they” are still hacking Goldeneye. If you have your N64 still, like I do, you need a gameshark. And you can add new levels or make previously limited (2-3 players) levels allow for 4 player madness. Also if you are into emulating you can get crazy with Goldeneye. Just letting you know.

I do remember Blood and Hexen. There was a couple Bloods and a relatively recent one full of bugs. There was also TekWar (piece of crap), I’m telling you I’ve played like almost every old school FP3, I stopped playing as I got older. So I’ve never played any of the Time Splitters, or Unreal Tourn, but now that I’ve got a little extra cash I’ll look into it.
The first FPS that I know of is a game called. Catacombs 3d, this thing was only in CGA color but was cool in design. You were a magician running around casting spells (Fire, Lightening) while killing enemies.

This is just too much, how am I supposed to dominate in Arcana and beat y’all in Melty also. I mean I really don’t want to take soooo much money from you guys I guess some of you guys are just going to need to get 2nd jobs, in Nas’s case a 3rd job to cover the losses I’m going to dole out.

ARCANA HEART 2 COMING IS OUT THIS WINTER
So I’m going to replace my we need another Arcana cabinet pleas right now for we need Arcana heart 2 when it comes out…And then I’ll get back to how we need another Cabinet.
If they do the same thing as arcana heart 1 it looks like Examu is giving the game a year in the arcades before they drop it on a console. To bad we didn’t find out about arcana heart until halfway through the year.
Have there not been any Loc tests done on AH2 yet? I mean if it’s supposed to come out in December shouldn’t there be some screens of it somewhere? Maybe it’s december 08… that would suck.
