The Penn State scandal

Because one accident shouldn’t tarnish an entire legacy

I don’t even need to use my own words for the reply:

Stop responding to Boris, y’all. Nothing good will come of it.

what would you call showing up to work every day and allowing the guy to be around your campus for 8yrs, as recent as last week, and never questioning why the guy wasnt in jail?

that would be turning a blind eye

(he never reported it as rape by the way)

One kid is all. Yeah it’s tragic and boo hoo and all that but come on, you need to get over it. This happened 9 years ago and like I said earlier, the kid is still alive and has moved on, so it’s not a big deal anymore. Sandusky is a disgusting pedophile and he should be jailed but don’t take out your anger on Paterno because you think he “didn’t do enough”, he did all he could

I don’t think he’s saying the rape was okay. I think people’s beef is the fact that Paterno legally did what he was supposed to and left it up to the people he told it to, to you know…DO THEIR JOB which they obviously didn’t. I don’t mind people jumping on Paterno was being morally wrong cause thats what it is at the end of the day but come on people there’s plenty of blame to go around especially to the people that are WAAAAY more deserving of the blame that Paterno.

fucking stop.

  1. he did not do all he could. his other more responsible less cover-upish responses were to call the real police, and to tell the fucker to stay the hell away from penn state

  2. im certain the kid has not “moved on”. child molestation, let alone anal rape, is not something you just deal with. which is why its such a big deal. that childs life was ruined, and joe paterno’s inactivity allowed more kids to be molested, thus their lives were ruined

You’re making a false argument. Who is putting all the blame on Paterno? Show me one example.

He told the people he needed to tell and he left it up to them to do their job and they did not and that is not Paterno’s fault. He tried to stop it and because the university fucked up, they’re backpedaling and blaming it on Paterno, saying he “could’ve done more” and therefore you need to be fired and have your reputation destroyed. Just pathetic what the school officials did. The football program will suffer because of this and so will the institution. Many kids are raped and yes, it’s traumatic but they move on. This kid is no different. He probably doesn’t even think of it anymore

are you serious do you not read the news? look at the grand jury presentment, there are 6 other victims who have came forward as to being molested/raped by sadunsky between 2002 to 2009. if Paterno had reported this to the police when he saw that the university officials did nothing, those additional boys could have been saved from rape and molestation. did Paterno ever even ask Sadunsky about that 2002 allegation in the last 9 years??? i imagined they’d be good friends after working together for 20+ years. and since that time Paterno knew Sadunsky was still having little boys over at his place for sleepovers smh. i don’t get how you guys can even defend Paterno, saying that he was unjustly fired. he absolutely deserved it

I guess blame is the wrong word…I should say focus. The guy made a morally wrong choice and thats fine cause mistakes happen and every one of us here has made dumb choices BUT i really don’t see the end game to demonizing him on the level of an actual pedophile when he isn’t.
Him taking the situation and notifying the AD and president was the right things to. To him i figure he just didn’t want to be involved and have his name thrown out their if those two guys actually called the cops and such.

ok man. one question.

did he call the police? not campus PD. the fucking police. did he call them?

What’s he going to tell the police? He has no evidence of the rape, just some vague explanation of wrong doing by an assistant coach

It can and it did. A true hero does the right thing even when it might come at some sacrifice. This was his true test in life.
He had the chance to do something about a child rapist but he just passed the buck. That’s not something a hero does.

He had the choice of:

  1. Do the right thing call the cops and tell McQuery to tell them exactly what he saw to the police, even if it might tarnish and shame the reputation of Penn State.

or

  1. I’ll pass the buck to my superiors. It is somebody else’s call not mine to report a child being raped to the police. I don’t want to be involved in this scandal. Hopefully somebody else will help that poor boy.

He chose the choice of the coward.

And the kid did get help, so what’s the problem?

You…you can’t be serious.

We’re doomed.

something along the lines of, “the fucking suspected pedo that hangs around here sometimes, even tho we told him not to bring kids here, was just seen raping a child in the shower by one of my assistants.”

Justic will be served and Paterno was fired. What more you do people want?

Cause you know telling your superiors who you feel will do the right thing and report the problem and take care of situation is OH SO cowardly…give me a fuckin break

yup. just keep on passing the responsibility right on to the next person. one day it’ll get to the cops. thats right. 8 years and 6 victims later the cops will find out. youre right. joe did the right thing. the cops found out. and the kid didnt die from it.
