Is this number also the same for mobile cpus and gpus. Because a lot of people handwave the shit out this point.
Safe max temps vary on the CPU. 60 is only pushing it with the AMD FX line- keeping the 8350 I had that low (without overclocking) during very demanding gaming in warm weather was difficult with an Evo 212, good thermal paste, and a gigantic case with good airflow (corsair 760 . The 6600k in that same setup rarely hits 40.
That said, cooler is always better, but Iād also bet that manufacturers give pretty safe numbers as max temps. When fighting with the temps of the 8350, I found someone who said they had been running one at 70 for a couple of years with near constant operation without performance degradation. Still wouldnāt recommend it though.
Text book answer is 60° C regardless of the processor brand.
Depending on the model and architecture of that particular processor, the actual max safe temps can bet between 60°c and 78°F. Key here is playing it safe than sorry. Go over that max safe temp and you can cook your CPU.
And these numbers are lower than what the were in the past Like the Pentium 4 had a max safe temp of 78°F but the Pentium 4 is when we really start seeing the first of the over sized coolers and Intel admits their CPUs have a major Temp problem.
Sure you can get away temps in the 70° C range but why would you?
But for the price, I would not drop $130 for a fanless heatsink. At that price point you may as well pick up a good All-in-one liquid cooler like the Corsair H100i v2
The cooler comes with a kit for both AMD and Intel installation. I would swap out the included fans for something aftermarket. Even Corsair makes better than what the include in their AIO Liquid coolers.
I used a pair of EKWB EK-Vardar F4 Fans ( a little overkill but they work great). You would want the F2 or F3 fans if you are going for quiet operations, F5 is too loud for me but they are 3000 RPM fans.

Speaking of coolers, that new MSI air cooler looks like a good one.
Are you speaking about this?

Yep. Intel claims to have a 7nm process by 2018. Weāll see.

Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition is free on GOG for 48 hours
NWN was a pretty solid game. Single player campaigns were a little meh until the last expansion pack, but there was a TON of player made content out there too. I wonder how much of it is still available.
I had some pretty wonky but effective character builds in it. Favorite was a halfling Druid/Blackguard/Shapeshifter. A little rough in the leveling process, but a huge tool box of stacked abilities at the end.
I tried to play Neverwinter Nights after playing Diablo 2 first. I went back to Diablo almost immediately.
@Manx @Hawkingbird @ShaftAgent PATH OF EXILE NEW LEAGUE TOMORROW??? I GOT THE DAY OFF LETāS DO THIS LIKE BRUTUS
To be fair, outside of some superficial similarities they are completely different genres of game.
I hope the new league comes with the chance to respec. Iām getting my ass handed to me in merciless.

My game is fucked up and wonāt update, but I will somehow manage.
New league always starts from scratch. No clue what the OP/fun build will be this league. I might play my old Bladefall build because it was fun as fuck. The past two builds that made it to 85+ was that one and cyclone 'rauder. The 'rauder started getting one shot in tier 9 maps. Bladefall Witch probably could have gone full end game with the right build, but she was supposed to be an atziri farmer.

Looks nice but I donāt see what sets this MSI cooler from the rest of the after market coolers on the market minus the bling factor.

Rule of thumb: the simpler the cooler, the better it usually is.

Iām in a unique spot, any fan noise is really ruining my work. Iām getting serious big time auditions and Iām constantly worried about fan noise. I donāt have a big enough space to isolate from the PC entirely.
I personally donāt even notice fan noise anymore, I used to use a fat ps3 all day.
It performs a bit better than most in its price range- obviously weāre not talking liquid cooling here, but those numbers looked pretty good to me. Probably worth spending an extra $20 over an evo 212 for a new build.
good timing because i just beat Wolfenstein, which was amazing
we are going for this build now

That is an expensive ass build.
⦠LETāS MAKE IT!!!
