My old PC was very similar to that, same, brand, GPU, PSU, case and such, but it was an intel cpu, and had only 8 gigs of ram. Basically, it is the graphics card is what is holding the system back. While it isn’t a waste to want to use as much old stuff as possible…you may run into issues.
I was able to upgrade to a gtx 660 with no problem, and that should get you decent performance. Upgading to 16 of ram was also fine, but the difference was minimal. If you get yourself an SSD, and install games on there, and there should be a noticeable improvement.
I started running into issues when I wanted a better, newer graphics card. The 300w psu just wouldn’t cut it for most modern cards, but that is a pretty straight forward upgrade. Aside from the case being pretty small, which is not good for a large, hot cards…the motherboard wouldn’t play nice with my 780ti. Even after updating the bios and a lot of tinkering, it just wouldn’t boot. I ended up getting a new motherboard…which also meant a new cpu cooler since the one I had didn’t fit the new motherboard. The new motherboard also ended up meaning a new copy of windows since it decided it was no longer valid.
This is the problem with pre-built systems, they will work out of the box, but you may run into all kinds of compatibility issues if you start swapping out parts.
Thanks for the assistance. Yeah, this sort of thing (compatibility issues)is why I’ve always been a console gamer (barring emulators, of course) prior to buying this computer. Now that I’ve gotten a taste of steam (especially their sales and free online play), I’m more eager to jump in.
I just unlocked FOBs. You access it after Mission 22. Running fine on PC, and by that I mean I infiltrated some other dude’s base, stole his A++ guy, got caught at the last second, and am now waiting for his retaliation.
The save thing definitely sucks, agreed.
The new UT looks better everytime I see the game.
The new Facing Worlds looks beautiful. They are putting alot of love into this game can’t wait to see what it looks like when it is complete. Its so hard to believe this game is still in Alpha.
More people need to play the new UT.
Mostly so I can play without getting completely trashed, lol. I’m so bad at arena shooters.

Looks like I need more than just a new vid card. I don’t think my processor even meets the minimum. (amd phenom x2 with 4 cores unlocked)
Might just buy a PS4 at this point.
Pretty standard gaming specs. I got most of that nailed down, curious to see if my video card will hold up. I highly doubt it won’t.
Looks like I’m set for SFV…
Ah… Unreal Tournament, how much I missed thee.
I’m a little worried that the recommended OS is Windows 7.
I just hope it doesn’t have weird compatibility issues with Win8 and 10.
Probably not…its just…Japanese developers…pc ports…
Good thing I got a GTX 960. I’m all set for SFV
Afaik, it’s not a port so should be fine.
I’m not sure what recommended settings mean though… is that playing at max settings or what?
I’m with you. My i5 is from the 1156 chipsets and it doesn’t meet the requirements. Not that it can’t play it, it will probably work fine, but I can see there being problems eventually.
Sigh, I don’t want to plunk down another $300 to upgrade my PC’s guts.
Yeah doesn’t seem to have horribly high minimum requirements.
Even my budget PC should run it fine.
Got a I5-4440/3.10 GHz
with a GeForce 750 ti
I guess I’ll run it on 60 fps with low-medium graphics settings.
I’m just boned on the processor front. I have a Lynnfield, which is old as fuck. It’s an i5 2.8 GHz 760 or whatever. It’s significantly lower than the minimum requirement and I’m afraid even with 12 GB of RAM and a GTX 970 it still won’t run the shit in a playable fashion.
Yeah CPU is probably the most important part about a 3D fighting game.
I’m not planning on upgrading my shit anytime soon. That would be predecessor and motherboard, maybe memory and definitely power supply. $400 for that. Not worth it for SFV which is all I’d play. Guess buying that 970 was pointless. Should see if newegg would accept a return.
Whelp, looks like I’m getting SFV on PC. B)
Lets play whenever you do. Game is gonna be real fun.
If that holds true I might need to upgrade my processor, was planning on doing so around the holidays anyway. There’s no way the 780 I just got is gonna have any trouble wi… oh wait Japanese developer on PC.
Why can’t all of their games run as well as MGS5? As much shit as Konami has fucked up over the years, they somehow managed to release a near flawless PC port.
