Why does the choice of a 290 have to be qualified? They’re both great cards.
if he wanted to sli later then the 970 runs cooler. if he wanted to get into VR then 970/290x are minimum requirements but the 970 has a very very consistent frame rate (which VR craves)
Now that I read up on the 970, I’m really impressed that it can dual screen or more on its own. I might end up getting two monitors and making my office a goddamn monster of screens off of just that one upgrade I just did.
Real happy I went with that choice.

That and how optimized said game is for general PC play (which is what fucks over ports from console, some of the time).
Was doing the same for me, but somehow I managed to get a browser over top of it once or twice. I’m still not sure how and just switched back to fullscreen.
And then somehow family share broke on my cousin’s computer and I can’t play MGS without giving money to Konami. I’ll just wait and go back to Witcher 3 for now.
SanDisk 960 gb SSD is ~$250 on amazon right now. I can’t speak to the quality, but that’s a really good price for an SSD.
Edit: I also have a question. I’m going to run a 40 ft hdmi cable from my pc to my new smart TV. The hdmi cable says it supports shared ethernet, but I’ve never heard of that. Would I be able to have the TV use my pc for ethernet through my gpu?
I’m losing sports on cable to save some money, so I’m going to use my parents slingbox to get my sports, and I don’t want to watch them on my monitor.
Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is coming to PC. Any of you who missed this on consoles are in luck, the game is fantastic. Also, it pushed the ps3 and 360 pretty hard, so the PC version should be a far superior choice (assuming it’s not botched somehow).

I’m pretty sure Dragon’s Dogma runs on MT Framework which in my experience has been surprisingly well optimized for pc. I’d say it’s a safe bet we will get a decent port.
Computer is crashing every time I start running a game now. Might be a RAM issue. So much for my day off.
I’ve had that happen before, I re seated my ram and it fixed everything. Horrible troubleshoot with stuff like that… Good luck.

I recommend it to anyone who likes action games. If you’ve never played a Suda game before, here’s your chance. I have it on PS3, but I’m tempted to get this version just to see the differences.
One of my favorite action RPG’s last-gen next to the Souls series.

RE: Dragon’s Dogma. Also excited about this. Watched my brother play it and I played a little and it seems really good. Combat looks fun.
All I had to do was install it.
First time that’s happened.
The combat is unrivaled for the genre, it’s high quality action gameplay with tons of options (a product of the dmc pedigree). That said, being an rpg, it does take a few hours to really open up- the point when you can switch to advanced/hybrid jobs is when it gets really great. The job system is actually reminiscent of final fantasy tactics’ setup as well.
It’s not good luck to me, I just had to wait for my cousin to get back and let him be a computer super genius. Everything is fixed and I now have his old 780ti for a good price. If it wasn’t for him I probably would still be on console only. Relatively speaking I’m pretty dumb when it comes to this sort of thing.
Did anybody get in on Killing Floor 2? I have and it’s been great so far. The gun action feels so good.
